Thank you for the very informative video. I've lived in Boise since 2001. I'm 60, renter, not retired, recently layed off remote job, recent breakup of 4 year relationship with nice girlfriend and thinking about a change, in August when my lease is up for renewal (or not). I live just West of downtown Boise in what is likely the last affordable rental building around. Avid mountain biker and gravel/road cyclist. Recent changes alluded to has me thinking I want to get out of here. Wa State sounds very appealing, and Wenatchee in particular. I'm probably going to need to keep working as long as I can, and am thinking remote is the way to go to be able to relocate. I do like the big music acts that we've/I've seen here - AIC, Tool, Joe Bonamassa, etc and am thinking will need to do weekend in Seattle to be able to get those with someone, if I move to Wenatchee. But that's not deal-breaker. It's hard being a bit older and single now, but I think community can be found in Wenatchee, and the support needed. As for Mtb riding, I'm going to look online. I'm thinking the quality of trails are probably better and more diverse in the Eastern foothills of the Cascades then they are here in Boise. Rents for studio's and 1 bedrooms look to be a bit higher there than Boise, but other things might even it out. Wenatchee is a place me and my Ex talked about moving to - as she is from WA State anyway. Definitely in a "Liminal Space" now in my head and geo change can be good! 8:10

Thanks for the comment. I think the wenatchee area has easier accessibility to the out door then Boise does. For music check out the Gorge amphitheater, I saw Tool there a few years back. this amphitheater should be on everyone's bucket list. It's stunning. Mountain biking - check out evergreen mountain bike alliance and squilchuck state park.

@LivinginNCW thank you again, and for the additional info. Funny, we were going to see RHCP at The Gorge on Fri 5/31 but she canceled and had to resell the tickets. I was going to see her 1st and concert was a planned bonus, but she not see like that. I'm definitely putting Gorge on to do list to see a concert at in future. Experiences are what matter, not things.

Boise river runs through Boise. Snake River runs nearby, Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls.

Wenatchee tore out all the orchards it had years ago. I grew up there and it is a go nowhere place and do nothing. I do not like to go back even to visit my sisters.

Boise, Constitutional carry and the least restrictive state for gun rights. Washington is becoming hostile and restrictive to the Second Amendment. Idaho is lower overall in all tax expenses and Idaho property taxes are much lower than Washington.

@opencarry3860, thanks for the comment. Property taxes in both states really varys by where you live. Rule areas are always going to be more affordable than the cities.

Boise is home to a major college university, while Wenatchee has a small Jr. College. When it comes to higher education Boise gets an exclamation point! If you want access to the great outdoors, and a low violent crime area, Wenatchee is a good choice. But, if you want to enjoy a thriving art scene, nightlife, and job market, Boise is the logical choice. So, if you are retired, and don't get out much, and want low crime, head to Wenatchee. But, if you are younger, want a brighter future, enjoy better educational opportunities, hope to own a home, want more things to do, and hate oppressive left-wing policies, then set your sails for Idaho. Overall, Boise is the clear winner because it is growing, has far more opportunities, while Wenatchee has been stagnating for decades. That said, Boise leans to the left politically, whereas Wenatchee remains fairly conservative.

When I moved from Illinois out west it was no brainer to move choose Boise over anything in Washington simply due to political fallout. When 2/3 of the state is actively seeking to be annexed by Idaho that should be a huge clue things are in dire straights. Much like California cities Wenatchee will suffer due to Olympia's Leaders. I'm pretty sure last census showed the state was losing population, once that starts the pain begins as those leaving are usually the ones making up the tax base. Get out before the property values collapse!

@@LivinginNCW It's just much more challenging in today's hyper political climate to appease everyone but, the comparison was valid from a practical standpoint. Unfortunately now politics do play a concerning role in decision making with where to live and work whereas they did not 30-40 yrs ago. Keep up the great work!
