So You're Telling Me Defensive Play In Retold Is TERRIBLE?!

My opponent is Set here and I read his 2nd TC very quickly, follow it with my own TC and then decide to go into a boom war. Norse's economy is absolutely stonking so all I need to do is not die to his initial push and I should be able to survive here. Problem is, playing defensive in retold just doesn't work right?

I've noticed in the last videos that units tend to prioritize movement going south first than walking in a straight line when issuing long travel commands. Its the reason you lost the Valkyrie in this game. She should have walked back from where she came from but instead tried to position herself parallel to the point of command passing through the enemy base. Ps: burning your own forest for that siege tower double kill was 🔥

Since the update you should always get a tc down rather than a hill fort, good place for archers to hide while still doing just as much damage as they would ungarrisoned, what is it like 180 pierce every second with 25 garrisoned in age IV, even more if you empower it as Egyptians, scary stuff

For the same time it takes to get 105 gold from a trade caravan, you can get 150 gold mined with a villager (going there and back with the caravan), considering all upgrades (caravan upgrades are cheaper), in the later stages when you stockpile some wood and food, or if you dont have food you most likely will be able to buy it cheap. Only issue is it fcks with your pop major, you have to kill off some vills. triple wall that shit and forget about it, walls are better than forts if you got the range. If you are a good raider, you could use this to your advantage, less time microing your gold miners, more gold mines for you to farm villagers off, even better if you play with bragi viking tech

You always stress the importance of market positioning so much, but in this game you could have gotten a slightly longer trade route by placing your market right in the upmost southern corner!
