Such moody colors. They really look great. I wonder if they're lightfast too...but if dyes then probably not. So probably more for sketchbook work. Nice color set.
@tydelbarrio91935 жыл бұрын
Zarah McIntosh I was wondering about the lightfastness too..

According to their website, these are "Sumi" inks. Made out of some burnt japanese materials (seed oil, soot of pine, bone glue etc). They use Sumi in their traditional writings and art and they're claiming that these hasn't faded yet and actually claiming also that they improve in time. They're not pigments and they're not dyes as well. In my understanding they're like carbon products so I think they'll last. I'm not sure though if they added additional colorants here though.😌
@ArtistWizardry4 жыл бұрын
@@AllanJayQuesada Oh , I thought the color part was not sumi. There's one way to know for sure if the colors will stay.. A lightfast test! :) Unfortunately there's hardly strong sun where I I live. Maybe some full spectrum incandescent bulbs will work for lightfast test, I wonder.
@AllanJayQuesada4 жыл бұрын
@@ArtistWizardry hahah. Yeah, a lightfastness test. We got a lot of sun here in Manila. A lot of rain too, though. Hahah. I need to research further about how tests are done so that I will be successful in my tests soon. Can't wait. And, update us too, if the incandescent bulb test works. ☺️
@ilemas2 жыл бұрын
@@tydelbarrio9193 I made a lightfastness test with the six blackish colors of that set. The swatches have spent a full year on a window in direct sunlight. Result: the black has resisted but colours faded and even disappeared for the reddish tone.

I went browsing our German Amazon today, because I (more or less decided) I wanted to finally get some Gansais and these just crossed my view as well. I wonder how to paint with these? Classic sumi-e paintings often look a bit muted, too, so it fits with this set. I love muted colours - the greys in my marker boxes are always the first ones to die on me, so maybe I'll just go on a shopping spree? Which I totally shouldn't - my mom's gonna kill me, if I get any more art supplies ^^'

What is the difference between these and the gansai ? I have the gansai one's.......Liked this video. Your comparable swatches were pretty close. Always enjoy your paintings too. Karen from Canada ☺☺☺☺
@AllanJayQuesada Жыл бұрын
Hi Karen. 😊. They're the same size as the Gansai Tambi. Same containers. And also i think theyre mainly made for the same purpose which is for traditional Japanese calligraphy writing and art. This set is special in a way because of the moody dark colors. 😊

They're big and concentrated because they're meant to be used with Japanese/Chinese brushes that can hold a huge amount of water.

That really makes sense. I think I've seen one do that calligraphy using these pans size.

It is concerned a full pan. Even their half pans are twice the size of other half pans. Despite what most think you get far more paint than any other brand of pans.

Actually sir, medyo achievable nga Naman itong set na Ito from other brands.. Ang edge Lang din cgro nito is ung sophistication as a set and siyempre ung laki ng pans. Puwede Naman cgro imix Ito sa ibang paints or puwede siguro I experiment muna parabsure since hjndi Ito ata pigment based, hindi Rin dye. Hehe. Naku gusto ko Rin ma try yang Kremer na Yan. Mas mura malayo sa US, Kaso unb shipping fee angblakiii.

Can u make a video about how to take care of your brushes.. especially those expensive kolinsky brush... my escoda brush recently arrived but I’m actually scared to use them cuz i might ruin it
@AllanJayQuesada4 жыл бұрын
Hello…! For sure I'm gonna do that soon. ☺️ But for initial tips, here's what I do.. 1. I clean it using Master's Brush cleaner from Art Nebula. But any mild or scentless soap can be used as alternative like dove or Cetaphil. 2. Never keep them in an airtight space for long. If you need to keep it make sure it is cleaned and dry. 3. Avoid usingt the expensive brushes on paints that are of low quality, chalky and hard to rewet. 4. If you need to dry it, just position them with the hair part on the lower side or pointing down so that the moisture and impurities will not get deeper inside tacked hair. 5. Protect the hairs by keeping the tube protection or make an improvised covering to keep the point, on point. ☺️ 6. Don't be afraid. It is meant to be used and no matter how hard we care for it, it will wear off and retire. What's important is you've enjoyed using it, learned from it at maximized it's quality.

This set is really interesting. It has this Gothic feel. hehe. I was never "confident" like how I work now in my sample paintings till I started uploading on youtube only in 2018. really. You really have to trust yourself, pressure it in a healthy way with timer (cause you have to be more on the quick side in watercolor) and practice.. those 3 would help, lalo yung practice. :)
