@@nicolemurphy4548 I don't think had Beth catering for years. From earlier episodes, they asked the catering company to have Beth handletheir jobs starting in 1987. So I think maybe they used the caterer for a while but didn't have Beth on the premises supervising the jobs. But I also seem to remember that Eric liked "that new caterer." I think Stephanie is reacting to "all these years" meaning Eric has had a thing for Beth throughout their entire marriage. Also, at this point, Stephanie might not realize that Eric only just now rediscoverd Beth.

Gosh, Kristen is so self absorbed and insensitive to Stephanie. “You’ve been through it with Daddy.” Six months ago she told Steph that she’d be fine with Eric having an affair “if it pleases Daddy.” And now she’s asking for advice on weathering the storm with Clarke, which of course at the stage of their relationship is waaaay different than a 30 year marriage. Bad taste, Kristen. Well, at least she and her mom aren’t fighting anymore.

Kristen is just lost, she didn't have her parents for a fair amount of time, she was dotted by her father and reje Ted by her mother, she is trying to approach her mother and be closer, even if the circumstances of what might unite them aren't the best, she is seeking for Stepth as mom and not just "mother". Kristen suffered bc of a man before but still has not said the reason.
