What a bizarre ending. Poor Beth. These days you'd call that type of pressure coercive control. Her look of dismay at the end speaks volumes. And they really dropped the ball with her and Caroline after the latter's trial ended the previous year. Caroline not getting Beth some sort of job with Spencer Publications through Bill after all Beth did for her was a hugely missed opportunity and could have set up a very interesting rivalry storyline with Stephanie for years to come... but rather they chose to do that with Sally later. What might have been for an original character though...

Stephanie needed ruthlessness to be rivalled (generally) from people like Morgan and mostly Sheila. And although yes Brooke layed on her back too, I think she used other things too. Of course it depends what you mean with rival, you mean generally rival or just with men?
