Eric has to be the dumbest dumb dumb alive. He's heard and seen what Sheila is capable of, and still asking stupid questions. I think he just can't believe how such a poor judge of character he is (again). Thank goodness for Steph to always literally spell it out for him. Meanwhile, James gives the story of what he did as if he was some kind of savvy psychiatrist in control of the situation, when really he was a flop and Sheila was the one in control the entire time. "I've tried every other method and nothing worked..." That is the summary of James entire role on the show.

Omar is what we call in the Communications world.. A "hole filler".. Meaning, if you are miscommunicating by not telling the entire story, there will always be someone else to come along and fill the holes you left with their own narrative, so they can change the entire story. And usually they change it to suit them. When Ridge told Taylor, "It's not like there was another man involved..", that was the window of opportunity for Taylor to tell him the story of Omar. Now, Omar has shown up to "fill the hole" and tell Ridge the story of Taylor first, according to him, without Taylor there to defend herself.

That's a great expression! Taylor's big mistake here is leaving that hole for Omar to fill. Somehow she has managed to have four full conversations with Ridge without mentioning anything about her life in Morocco, or that time she went to his seminar in disguise, or the Volunteer days...

Sorry, but Steph being so forgiving and friendly towards James, but not forgiving towards Taylor for them BOTH committing the same act behind Ridge's back, is terrible writing and hypocritical. Meanwhile, glad Ridge told Taylor the opposite of what Brooke said. That this was her home and it wouldn't be fair for her to have to leave. Brooke would faint if she heard those words, after she basically ran Taylor out on the last railroad.

This again shows it's about story function for Stephanie. James still "fits" in the story by helping her get rid of Sheila. But Taylor doesn't fit anymore because she's _not_ helping her get rid of Brooke.

But that's just it. James _has not_ helped her do anything up to this point. He failed to marry Brooke, he failed to capture Sheila and Lauren beat him to the reveal of Sheila's deeds.... He has been of no actual use to Steph so I cannot understand why she's so endeared to him. When she enlisted Sheila's help at first to get Brooke out of town, and Sheila failed on that mission, Steph immediately turned against her. Why she doesn't do the same to James, esp considering he "slept" Taylor, is beyond me.

I guess I just mean that James is still playing his assigned role (antagonist to Sheila) whereas Taylor isn't (no longer "the Wife" or "the Good Girl"). Also remember Stephanie _was_ willing to forgive Taylor for the Big Bear incident. The reason she's indicting Taylor now is because she thinks Taylor marrying another man is _another_ instance of betraying Ridge. The incident with James just makes the Omar incident (which Taylor isn't giving her much info on) seem even worse to Stephanie. I do agree with you that Stephanie is hypocritical and applying sexist double standards but I don't think it's bad writing because she's _always_ been that way. She condemns Brooke and Sheila for instance for their involvement with the men in her family while excusing the men. Though there are certainly other examples of bad writing in this scene. Like why didn't James defend Taylor and tell Stephanie about Omar holding her prisoner? He didn't even _react_ when Stephanie said she told Taylor to leave! 🥴

I do get your point that Steph has always been harder on the women than men in her stance towards marriage /fidelity, so I guess this is another true to form. I think for me it is just hard to see her be so hard line on Taylor like that bc she had grown to love Taylor as a daughter so there should be some willingness to have a softer approach in this instance (as opposed to with Brooke or Sheila)

Might be for the better. Maybe James could have helped (mentioned that Omar and Taylor had separated bedrooms, no sex), - but if James would have talked about "princess Layla", the belly dance with a snake and Layla kissing Omar to convince James to leave Morocco, it might have just alienated Stephanie even more. Taylor gives away so little information (while James too much) that she might not like James revealing more than Taylor is willing yet. With James, you can't be sure what he will tell. Was it necessary to tell Eric and Stephanie yet that James had slept with Sheila? (I serviced her physical needs.) Making her trust him and betraying that trust would have explained already, why Sheila might be after James.

Even before James kidnapping, James hadn't been able to convince Taylor, had talked with Jack how he had tried to get Taylor to reveal herself but couldn't get through to her. kinda "Stephanie, I have told Taylor for many weeks that she was wrong."

It is the discrepancy: We have Stephanie telling James how _Stephanie has encouraged Taylor to leave town and return to her husband that that Stephanie does not want Ridge to know that Taylor is alive_ and at the same time _Taylor walks around in Stephanie's home, stating how great it is to be back in that house_ and yes, serving Ridge like it is still their home too (when Taylor had not been there for a year and Ridge has a new home for at least 8 months)

Well, the other night I had a very vivid dream that Thorne and Ridge (yes, 1995 Jeff and Ronn 😍) arrested me, planted mary jane on me, then all of a sudden they left and left the mj. But they took my car...😂 The timeframe in my dream was present day so 1995 Ridge and Thorne showing up just makes it all that much more funny. I'm just glad it wasn't Lt. Butke, then I'd be in dream prison! 🤣 Actually...I wouldn't mind dreaming about being arrested my ole Burke the Babe. As long as that included a strip search. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jk! Sorry, I couldn't help myself on that one... 🥝💚🖤
