Funnily for those who mention Gladius: Vangelus actually talked about Gladius on TFW2005. His review was as follows: "This year I’ve decided to highlight the unofficial toy that made me think the most, rather than the simple task of picking the one I liked best. Most of my top favs are already being highlighted by fellow staff, and I’ll list off a few down below. But Bold Forms Gladius is a piece that epitomizes exploration of concept to my current path of thinking more about this hobby that I still enjoy. Obviously, the figure has a long and storied development history, spearheaded by a team of (I think) literally one guy, and it shows. For better and for worse, Gladius is bursting with the energy of a one-man passion project, from the extremely specific decisions and solutions in its engineering, to the “listen I’m sitting down with you to tell you how my thing works” tone of the instruction manual, which goes into meticulous detail about some concepts and then blows past others as it runs into an apparent budget wall for its page-count. Gladius is riddled with flaws, but just as riddled with intrigue and outright sparks of genius. In a market where poor releases often fall into the two buckets of “too fragile” or “too complicated”, Gladius remains a piece I wouldn’t recommend to most people, but that I am extremely pleased to own and inspect. It is a transforming toy filled with small victories and critical faults, whose very existence and engineering tell the compelling story of a designer who I hope and pray can get one more chance to make a thing that he wants to make. (Maybe with one or two more core design team members to challenge and riff ideas against.) "

Kevin Allen I think I got pretty criticism heavy with the Ark Studios Disguiserz as well in the case of this figure a lot of it comes from a place of like, there are elements that are so well done, it's heartbreaking to see them get hamstrung by something like a lack of panel locking

Vangelus I must I missed the Ark Studios video. And yeah, I can really tell how disappointed you were. I mean... it isn't rage and anger in your voice. It is utter despair and disappointment, which I think is worse. With anger one could say you were focusing on the negatives... but with disappointment it is clear you are trying to find reasons to enjoy this figure but really can't. And that is very sad because, as you said, it is clear they had ideas but never fleshed them out. I personally wonder how much of the blame could be laid upon them retooling it for Combiner Wars. I could see them abandoning a final testing in preference to getting the combiner parts to work for the mainline.

Amen for the honesty brother, I'll admit I was half expecting nothing but positives just to sell it, but kudos to this review. I appreciate honesty, especially if I'm dishing out more money for whatever reasons are always floating around. Those criticism points are what genuinely let's me know if it's even worth buying or not, which is well the point of a review, not a detailed ad like some others

Gammatron64 Ditto. This guy looked like the perfect suplement for CW Motormaster, who's aesthetic just kiiiiinda doesn't sit right with me (Too many curves? The Viking horns for Menasor? The beef of his base robot mode? Dem hips in robot and combined mode? Me being crazy picky?) And then this... I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. I just hope that this ENCOURAGES people to design more CW-compatible 3P combiners, if only to prove it can be done competently.

What amazes me is Gladius feels like a step BACKWARDS from Lone Wolf - almost no paint, lack of stability, overly complex, and no cross compatibility with anything. Bold Forms is the anti-Unique Toys.

It's objectively full of problems, and personally, I don't like the menasor head and chest, and even they somehow managed to fail the truck mode, which looks kinda the g1 counterpart, but it's in fact boxy as hell, and with many problems too. Absolutely not worth the price.

I want to love this so much. That robot mode is just glorious but this being bold forms first figure really shows through this figure. I really hope they can learn from the feedback they got and apply that to their figures moving forward. This figure shows that this company has potential, but right now this figute just isn't that great.

Even setting aside the figure's numerous objective faults, I really don't really like the proportions on combined mode. The shoulders simply aren't broad enough to offset the sheer length of the CW arms, and it ends up making the torso look scrawny. The more exaggerated, primal, ape-like silhouette afforded by CW Menasor looks way better, especially with certain fan-modes.

DoctorWhat SA I think they just made Lone Wolf compatible (if that is the word) with CW to sell it. In time (when??) Bold Forms will create or they are in the making already the other Stunticon members. Probably the reason why they brought out LW with so many floppy and squeaky issues : the CW Stunticons are now available - about a half year later maybe they are gone or at least harder to find.

I never liked Motormaster's G1 design. It's just a bunch of boxes put together to vaguely resemble a robot. And the fact that much of his body is a trailer really messes with my mind, because a trailer is mostly hollow. No amount of mental gymnastics could make me forgive a design this lukewarm even by G1 standards. Even if I did have nostalgic feelings for it, I doubt my current opinion would be much different. I'm sorry that I'm coming off as harsh, but I just needed to get this off my chest. #g1isoverrated

Pick the one you like best. .. this version is for people like me who always wanted their g1 motermaster to stand up to g1 optimus. .. so for guys like me, he's awesome!
