I've been wanting to try to cut some boulder opal, it's always fascinated me. Watching you do it and seeing just how much of a muddy mess it turns out to be reminds me of cutting and polishing Michigan lightning stones

I love boulder opal, but the mees it makes when you cut it is something else! The treasure hunt of finding the right color is nerve racking, in a good way though. Nice video

Boulder in the absolute rough state is absolutely a gamble , no one can see inside. It's not like yowah nuts, though, dont slice straight to the middle. Bubble bands should be explored carefully before even slicing the stone at all

Boulder matrix is a very hard one to read and cut! 95% of the time you won't get your money back. As a long time cutter and miner your doing ok 👍

I use a dremel and carefully look for color. Then I connect the dots by removing ironstone in between.. It takes a delicate hand and a lot of work.

I find it sad your calling out any BUISINESS by name on your channel did you contact them first before you cut the Boulder opal To me most are small mom and pop companies that risk a lot to bring us our opal and here you jump on them make them out to be bad people 2 nice stones 50.00 Aud You make it seem like they are the reason your not able to cut right.... sorry but don't cut Boulder with a course stone they are not like that. BE nice to others the MINERS are good people and family to many of us. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me I have been cutting for a few years and will never ever bad mouth any miner by name.
