SIR, When swing trading forex with support/resistance what is reliable time chart to use for S/R levels--is it 4 hour OR 1 hour chart? I would think that 1H ,S/R levels are going to get easily violated if trading is against trend on 4H/Daily chart. Of course entry can be made even on 15 M chart BUT ENTRY HAS TO BE IN THE HIGHER TIME FRAME DIRECTION--I seek your experience.

Thanks for sharing. Upon backtesting this I realize it doesn't do very well in trending markets. Because the entry conditions often tells you to go against the trend assuming it will reverse due to the RSI being over bought or oversold and trends don't always reverse when this happens. This strategy is best where there's a lot of up and down price movement.

Exactly. I know someone who does well using Bollinger Bands to trade with the trend rather than against it. I wouldn't use this myself unless I can increase the odds with a higher probability signal.

​@@rockbinful I make an algorithm and backtested it too. Result are bad. As the author didn't give information about timeframe, currency, period, Risk ratio, exit method, Lot sizing (profitability of an entry strategy highly depend on that). So I use : - Timeframe: M15, - Currency: AUDCAD (Which is known to be mean revesible, therefore suitable for Bollingerbands/RSI strategy), - Period: 01/2021 to 01/2022 - Stop loss: at previous low or high + ATR x 2 - R:R : 2:1 (= 2 times stoploss distance from entry price) - Lot sizing: auto-calculated to not lose more than 2% of my total equity if I hit stop loss - Initial deposit 1000$ Despite having a growth of +10% during the first 2 months , my account suffer a 80% Drawdown during the next months so I obivously did not continue the test :) Why it fails ? Because there are a lot of big up or down move in this period that caused a lot of false signals and losing streak. (Price closing below BBands and 30 RSI but continue to go down below the Bands.). I tought it would be highly improbable due to the high length of bollinger bands but it happens multiple times. You have to care about the market conditions (trending, ranging) like author said. Anticipate and avoid potential trend move (ex: watch economical anouncement).

Put it under the wick of the previous low, and then add the ATR. Some people like to use 1.5X or 2X ATR, so you would have to figure out your own preference with that - but either way, the ATR is a great help since it tells you the average volatility of a set previous amount of candles.

Trading Long just means you are buying shares low to sell high. Shorting is when you sell the shares at a higher prices in order to buy lower.
