It's why they "don't make games anymore;" they do but there doesn't seem to be much pressure to actually put a product out. Add in the fact that valve never releases things unless it's "finished" (if you don't believe me consider the fact that they have a habit of throwing things out and starting over- HL, HL2, Portal 2, TF2) and you can see why they don't really release much to the public these days.

So, Cave Jhonson actually didn't die, he was just abandoned after killing his engineers when he got mad while his mind was transported to a supercomputer, just like Caroline and GlaDOS... except, he acutally KEEP his own mind and... was left behind, abandoned, suffering alone. And now, according to this game events, his mind is still trapped in the supercomputer (now powered up infinetly by a probably fusion core made by a praying mantis civilization) and has connected it to the "toilet turrets" and sings with them... for eternity, in some cave in some place down underground the old Aperture facilities. (Maybe he is the reason why the turrets sing in the first place??? thought in Portal normal turrets sings and talks in feminine voices, while this old turrets sing in manly deep voices. Maybe it's just a Caroline and Jhonson thing... to sing opera songs and has transmitted to the turrets in their control... that would actually be really wholesome) Yup, that's Portal Lore for you, and i love it.

TF2 player here. I lost all hope in Valve long ago. They only care about CS:GO nowadays.
@It-Will-All-Be-Okay-I-Promise2 жыл бұрын
@@Paul_The_Writer Really, Valve as a whole has put a large amount of time and recourses into steam and hardware manufacturing as of late. I do believe that their IPs as a whole are important to valve, but TF2 is definitely “done”. If valve were to make something along the lines of a new TF2 update of any substance, it’d be through a new game, think TF2.5, TF:GO or something like that, not through an actual update; the code is far too spaghetti for that to be sustainable. Half Life & Portal games are however completely on the table, and given the goodwill (and by extension, Profit$) it earns them whenever they release a new one, I doubt they’re gonna stop until a proper conclusion is reached for the story. It just wouldn’t be worth it to permanently shelve them, from both a provider and consumer point of view. Valve, like all companies, needs money to function, after all they don’t want to end up like Aperture; so they put more stock in games that can sustainably make them money. TF2 is not one of those games anymore, CS:GO still is though, that’s why they put more focus on it. I still won’t forget them practically discontinuing the TF2 Comics, but I can forgive.
@Paul_The_Writer2 жыл бұрын
@@It-Will-All-Be-Okay-I-Promise True words. But come on. 5 years and nothing significant? Bots running rampant everywhere? Exploits left and right? Crappy cosmetics? Although I respect your opinion, they're not a small indie studio. They're a freaking multi-million, if not billion dollar corporation. They can surely do something else aside from updating the goddamn localisation files. And I bet all the remaining devs paid with half a bag of stale Doritos and a can of flat Pepsi have given up already. Also, if they plan to release TF2 on Source 2, then I will punch myself in the nuts and eat my socks.
@It-Will-All-Be-Okay-I-Promise2 жыл бұрын
@@Paul_The_Writer I mean, they COULD update TF2 for realsies, but what I mean is that from a business perspective it’s not “Sustainable”. Valve has always been a very “long term” company (investing into VR tech in like 2013 is one example of that) and part of that I believe is to focus on things that can give a sustainable profit in the long term; TF2 in its current form will not give a return, likely in the short term and long term, on the massive investment of time and money it would require to update and by extension navigate through its messy code, so it’s not sustainable and thus is discouraged by the “higher ups” (IE: people with more sway in the company). I sure as hell hope they release a TF3 or something of the sort in my lifetime, as it’s the only way they’ll make any new TF2 content, but before they do any of that I’d expect HL3/Portal3. No, I’m not joking, they probably have the story all mapped out by now so games in the “Black Mesa & Aperture” universe are being prioritized, this is also probably why they retconned cave to be alive and a big robot head in Aperture Desk Job, given the plot implications. If I’m completely and utterly off, I will ingest a leather shoe.
