I found a workaround "sort of" to stem on your chops. You can just chop your sample to the pattern you like, drag the audio to another open pad, and repeat the same stem separation process. However, you must readjust the source tempo of each stem or select all and adjust it. It worked for me. I'm hoping that I explained this clearly. I might get brave and put up a video to demonstrate.

At 9:32 - Its a way to still save the midi if you want to. To the left of "Length" on the pattern section, click and hold that second icon and drag it to another sound spot. It will bounce the midi to audio and you'll still have the midi available.

@@Mike-vr7mbMan the MPC is like an all in one standalone unit. It sounds fantastic, you don’t need the computer but you can use the software IF you want to. Maschine won’t do mp3 which should’ve been fixed over a decade ago. Like Bolo mentioned for emailing a beat it’s essential. It took me a minute to get used to the MPC but now that I have I’m never using anything else. I say go for it. There’s many other reasons but this reply will be too long😂

@@Mike-vr7mbMost definitely! If you love sampling the MPC has Maschine beat in every way. I only like sampling drum breaks or my own guitar and bass playing. And my external keyboards but if chopping and all that is your thing then MPC got you covered. The time stretching and warp functions let you dial in your samples exactly how you want them. Sampling is the MPCs claim to fame!

You can chop the song as a whole, bounce it, bring the chopped song back into Maschine, then use the Stems feature as a workaround until they get their act together.

I was just about to say that before i saw this comment. Good update, but in relation to the other software out, it's still not on par. Maybe NI doesn't want to fully flesh out Maschine as a legitimate DAW.

​@@khaigenius You're right they don't because it's not supposed to be a fleshed out daw. It's supposed to be modern groovebox but they refuse to introduce the automation, midi editing and sample updates required to make it exceed mpc. If they do, it's going to be a v slow process

I would have liked to have seen stem separation inside the sampler, like Serato. This would not only work with chops/slices but also not force us to make 4 stems when we might just need to turn off drums for example... With always 4 I am forced to slice things 3 times, or resample 3 stems into another Pad, ya-da-ya-da.... The Sampler should really be #1 prio imo.

I agree with you about the updates. Should have gotten them a long time ago but being from the old school, one thing I can say is this. The Maschine is one of the DOPEST groove boxes to come out period. Honestly, Akai and Native instruments are running hand in hand, just depends on your personal preference is but think about it. Sampling, Sequencing, mixing and editing along with an ever expanding sound library..its hard to beat that. These days you just can't please everyone. Yea, it could have had this or that, but for everything that it does have why can't we just be satisfied. We now expect these developers to come out with new models and new updates every year? was not like that back in the day. Once you purchased a Roland or an MPC.. you weren't getting any updates for several years and as far as a new piece of hardware.... you had to use what you got and people used these products for YEARS just the way they were. I think we are spoiled. When I had my MPC3000, I wasn't sitting around waiting and complaining for an update, neither was I expecting one. I rocked it just the way it was and it was dope. I think we need to stop complaining about shoulda, woulda, coulda and get in the lab and make music. In my current set up I use the Maschine and the MPC and from where I started back in the 90's and with the studio equipment I was using then, ...Maschine and MPC combination are 1 million X more powerful and productive. So even if they never come about with any more updates..I'm on cloud 9 right now and I am very satisfied with what these products currently offer me. I appreciate you and your videos my brother. Keep up the great work..Im a fan.

Kontakt instruments created or last saved in Kontakt 5 load up in Maschine+. Once you save in newer versions, it no longer works. So if you have old backups somewhere, try them. You may luck up.

I think I’m slightly excited about how we’re able to use the software fluidly even without the controller. We can kinda go FL mode if we don’t feel like using the controller. Bounce in place is neat, and a time saver. And 29 bucks isn’t so bad. However, Mpc Import but no export is crazy No Warping after chop is crazy.

Thank you for this in depth analysis. The option to have audio as in a “normal” DAW is absolutely what I would have wanted. It can’t be that hard. I compose with real instruments as well as VSTs and samples so that is a must for me. Much as I love the Maschine workflow, I feel it is now time for me to move to MPC. MPC 3 finally has an arranger, and AKAI, unlike NI, seems serious about continuously improving and extending the platform. NI took years to come up with this “modest” update and still hasn’t remedied the downgraded Maschine support in the Mk3 keyboards. At some point, I can no longer continue to give them my cash…

Hey, Maybe I’m misunderstanding you here, but for as long as I can remember I have been dropping sounds from media bay in Cubase directly into a VST version of Maschine. Open media bay find your sample library, hold and drag the desired sample to the relative pad inside maschine.

@mingwingming1971 that might work. The way I tried was a recorded audio wave on an audio track. I know once they're saved in the computer hard drive, it can go into Maschine easy. Now I just have to figure how to get it from cubase audio track, exported to the media bay (as easy and convenient as possible), then to Maschine. I don't use the sample library in cubase, I just sample right on the spot into an audio track.

I'm completely underwhelmed by the Maschine development since quite a while, and again see absolutely nothing worth writing home about. After I got roughly 50-60 NI Maschine expansions over time, today I just worked my way into the fantastic functionality, overview and workflow of Steinbergs new Drum Machine tool in Cubase 14 Pro. It's working so great that I will not use Maschine again, ever. Importing NI Maschine samples (or my old Goldbaby, SamplesFrom Mars and others) into it is just easy pre-listen, drag & drop, and then fine tune to your liking. Working like a breeze ...

there might be a way to chop then stem seperate, idk if it would work but i would first chop up the sample and play how i would want it. Then theres a button on top of the group to the far left that exports whatever you have in the group to audio. Once i have the audio I would then stem seperate. Curious to see if this works though

Very diplomatically put - myself, I would’ve too little too late - however I’m not the most diplomatic person in the world! When you see what the competition is doing and I don’t just mean the current MPC range, but things like Drum Machine Designer in Logic, you would’ve thought NI would really have stepped their game up, but no. I haven’t tried it yet but it’s missing dropping audio like a Daw and maybe the possibility to turn a group into a normal track that you can edit like a daw in linear timeline , when saving just like other daws have numerous files with different stages of the saving process, had a few projects that I lost because it only has 1 version and somehow the are corrupted 🤷‍♂️, more fx (maybe perform fx on individual sound not only groups), halftime feature, better automations system maybe by selecting section and choose presets with nice curves. Mp3 export and honestly if they would do a new hardware, they need to make the plus version with 8-16 ram batteries and a speaker.

People complaining about sampling not being updated but what qas even wromg with the sampling in it? Its literally perfect the way it is. What cant it do really? Maybe other than having yhe same warping abilities as ableton but its not absolutely necessary. Any updates to how good it is as a sampler is just icing on the cake for me. People be too spoiled with DAWs being given nearly endless possibilities. The maschine is a condensed version of a DAW. It can do alot. But it doesnt need to be a full DAW. WE HAVE ENOUGH DAW's ALREADY. They may not have given every single thing but its a step in the right direction.

@keithwalter506 well i think thats the problem. You are relying too much on the software to do the work for you. The sample will change tempo when you play it at different pitches. Thats just what will happen. Its what you do with it. If youre expecting everything to stay in time and pitch and key... i feel like youre just relying too much on the software. Thats just my opinion. Sure it would make everything easier if you play a sample across the keys and everything timestretches and stays in pitch and tempo like it does withe audio module. But honestly at that point youre asking for some next level shit lol. Its really not that necessary. And its definitely not a basic thing. Not every DAW even has that ability. Abletons warping is the only ome that does it right really. But if you're looking to play a sample as a single note. Id just work with what happens when you do it. And if they decide to add that function sometime in the future cool. But i really could care less. Im fine without it
