awesome comparison video, I use a viltron 20mm and is the lightest full frame sony 20mm but I am deciding which lens to buy for vlogging and planning to upgrade my lens. kudos to your channel! btw the sound is great with the DJI MIC!

@ I am planning to get the 20mm since it’s lighter and cheaper but still deciding for a zoom lens. But for the price I am eying for the 20mm so I can have the “G Lens” since I never had one yet and want to experience it. I own a sigma 28-70 and it’s very sharp and it does all I need. ☺️🙏

great comparison bro! watching this makes me think which do you really need, wider range or a blurry background + low light capabilities. It is hard i might to keep both. lol

@@JmTubera thanks 🙏 I used 2 mics here. The DJI Mic 2 and the Sony ECM-B10.

I think your framing with the 16-25mm is better. In your case, I’d recommend going with the 16-25mm. The 1.8 blur seemed to detract more from the environment, which I assume isn’t ideal for a vlogging or documenting lens. Plus, the 20mm 1.8 appeared to struggle with focus hunting more. This feels like an easy decision-I've already made mine. Thanks!

Yes, I’m leaning towards keeping the 16-25. But I’m a sucker for bokeh too 😜

I still enjoy using my 16-35mm GM II a lot. Yes, it’s slightly bigger and heavier, but the reach you get for close-up shots and the minimal distortion are worth it. A little bottom plate could improve the balance on my A7C II with it.
@NikoBols17 күн бұрын
I loved my 16-35mm GM II’s reach. If I was traveling alone, no brainer, I’d be bringing this lens all the time. But with 2 kids, I need to shave off all the weight I can off of my camera kit 😁

Great demo comparison. I was thinking of adding the 20mm to my kit but if i didnt have the pocket 3, i think i would use the 16-25mm. Or maybe just stick the tamron 17-28 hehe. Bokeh is nice but that extra space is much better for me.
@NikoBols14 күн бұрын
@@MikeBSalazar hmm…don’t have the 17-28 anymore to be able to compare it. The 17-28 lived on my A7siii before and I loved that lens. Not sure how it compares to a Sony native lens released in 2024. Especially when it comes to using it with Active SteadyShot.

I love zooms, but can’t deny how helpful a 1.8 aperture helps in those low light pinches. For me it came down to availability and price. I’m a big used market guy and love a good deal and essentially got the 20 1.8 for half the price of the 16-25 2.8 (not many used options on that newer lens yet). Price not a factor tho, I think 16-25 gives that versatility and opens up more options and convenience.
@NikoBols17 күн бұрын
@@pcphotography9108 bought my 20mm used as well. But having that 16mm in this form factor was something I wanted to experience again and I think I’m leaning on keeping the 16-25 🙂

Were these color graded in post? The colors are drastically different sometimes. Especially in the first half of the video. The 20mm had different saturated hues that wasn't as pleasant. But the colors with the 16-25mm looked great when it "looks" straight out of camera.
@NikoBols16 күн бұрын
@@mrmarzo yes. It was color graded in post. And this was user error on my party as I left the camera in AWB so even in the part when I show my arm just for a short while, you will see the color shift. Sorry about this. My bad ✌️

@@NikoBols do you recommend getting the sigma 18-50 f2.8 as a one vlog lens for travel with ZV E1? I want a lens to vlog and make b roll's with.
@NikoBols13 күн бұрын
@ ZV-E1? No. The 18-50 is an aps-c lens while the ZV-E1 has a full frame sensor. The 18-50 is for cameras like a6700 or ZV-E10.

Great comparison against these two lenses. I also have the 20mm sony and been looking to get the 16-25 g lens for that wider look for vlogging. Ive been using the sigma 10-18mm for vlogging and croping out the edges at 12mm so i do get a really wide look but too much that it looks like a gopro sometimes. Im thinking the 16-25 sony will look better and sharper and also work better with the stabilization of the sony camera. The sigma somtimes struggles to look stable and when i put the 20mm sony it looks way more smoother.
@NikoBols17 күн бұрын
@@chickenandricecrew9867 hahaha! We are exactly on the same path. I did the same with the Sigma 10-18. I mainly use it at 12mm in full frame mode. But yeah, stabilization of the Sigma is not as good as Sony native lenses when using Active SteadyShot.

The 16-25 makes a ton of sense given the facts that this lens is sharp, has little distortion, has almost no focus breathing with focus breathing compensation off - than factor in crop factor (plus cover 3 prime focal lengths). It's a light and compact lens. The blur is pretty noticeable though, but it's all a give & take.
@NikoBols17 күн бұрын
@@stkuj thanks for your inputs. I am leaning towards keeping the 16-25mm.

and with Dji Osmo Pocket 3 available , wider lens seem like not the priority to own anymore, especially for vlogging.

With the 11mm, I won't be able to maximize it in photo mode as crop mode of the ZV-E1 will be only around 4MP.

Ive got for zve1 sony 11mm its actially ok if you would not move camera too fast left right :). starting from 1.2 crop you could get rid of viniete making it very small 1.8 lens ultra wide
