Lot of extraordinary things are happening in your clips, from hidden knowledge about water conditions, fly presentation to manage a safe release, you are revealing all that, I know it will take many seasons to me the average angler to learn by my own, to the other part of the clip that also shows partnership in the water, a good team partner is essential to produce such a great piece of work for generations to come, keep it up guys 😍 Thank you for sharing yours and others living experience in the water👍 Down with unethical fish farm productivity 👎 Best Mag

Thanks for the movie! I fished Bolstad for the first time this summer, caught a nice 11,5 lbs fresh salmon and an equally pretty 4 lbs grilse at Bolstadhølen. Next summer I will try for more than one day!

Get a flexistripper for gras Mikael. thats what we use in Denmark for salmon fishing with fly were there is grass like that if we are lucky and reed and other vegetation if we are unlucky.

Hi Mikael, Here in Northern Ireland some of the rivers are catch and release and promote the use of single de-barbed small hooks as opposed to treble hooks (no mention of doubles). I notice all of the fish you catch are release, however I suspect you are not using de-barbed hooks (as you use forceps on occasions and other times it seems more difficult when you remove the hook by hand). It looks like all your fish return safely. What’s your thoughts on using single de-barbed hooks as a method to enhance salmon stocks on a catch and release river system?
@frodinflies4 жыл бұрын
Hi - this is an interesting topic. A general thing i think is that the smaller the hook, berbless singel ..the better and easier release. But ... the handling of the fish is far more important. Never operate a deep hook, never take the fish up on land, hold and respect them when releasing... handling is the key i think.
@MichaelPhillips-jw4bj4 жыл бұрын
Very common we use single barbless in our steelhead fishing who have terribly low stocks ( also coho,chinook,chum,pink, sockeye. dolly varden -a char genus). especially in canada where its required by law ''fighting chance law''. Actually doubles/trebles on a fly for pacific fish is almost unheard of. The fish tend to have harder mouths, so force into single point for a deephook set is preferred, so it never took hold in fly fishing culture. though we basically imported everything else from you in the early years -haig brown era. I think this use of doubles etc is part of eroupean history and culture , so it will be harder to remove... Im not a expert in fish mortality, especially compared to mr frodin. Though i think its a great idea to try

Typo below, I mean fish farms close em, and in Scotland and in Canada, they are ruining everything and produce bad chemical food anyway.

Close those fish far,s now, why does the Norwegian government not act? They can put those fish in ponds or way out a sea in cages. It makes me think this is financial corruption, why else?
