Excellent tutorial. Timing is perfect. I have a tournament this weekend with a new list. I will certainly put these ideas into good use.

A very helpful tutorial Bo. For me the best advice is to review each scenario and make a deployment plan based on the list you’re using. Obviously, this might need to be adjusted when you’re matched up.

Bolt Action thematic, outside of "there is no way this faction had this piece anywhere near this theater in this year and month of the war," is sort of subjective, just because it's platoon scale.

Having played against Brits, I would put as many units as possible into reserves in missions with prep bombardment. Basically, anything that can be killed with a howitzer: solos, small teams, vehicles (especially open-top and light armored). Practically speaking, the chance of having at least 2 pins is 75%, so a vehicle in reserve is as good as a vehicle on the board because you will have to rally on the first turn to be effective in any way.

Anyway, here's my hot take (using my Sealand roster). In this scenario, I have to put 1/2 in Reserve, so here it goes: - Reserves: 2xBa-20s, 2xBrens with 2xMtd Recce, 2 Lt - On the table: 2xStuarts, 2xStrafbat, 2xDogs, Commie, Free Rifle Squad Deployment: Because of the MRL, I'll stretch forces as much as possible Stuarts on the flanks behind each of the buildings Rifle squad with commie behind the central blue rooftop building Strafbats on the very edges Dog mines somewhere between the blue building and sides, closer to the middle One side is pushing. Starfbat, on the push side, runs behind the buildings to score points. One LT is going there to support the ordering. The other LT comes in the middle to support Rifles. The other Strafbat is hiding. Dog mines are dangerous only to Brens. Any vehicles targeted by MRL do Recce move. Next turn, just pin MRL to death after it Rallies. I outgun Recce Stuart, so once I kill it, there isn't really anything dangerous to my Stuarts/BAs.

I would be weary of spreading out too much. your units will not be able to support each-other. Also remember: Kill-poins count in double envelopment. I really like your placement of the dogs.
@PeterSikachev Жыл бұрын
@@boltactiontutorialsbybomor3846 I meant spreading just the deployed units; reserves will come concentrated. By the time they come out, the MRL should be pinned or reloading anyway.

Will jump in using my N4SB list from last weekend: Deploy:2 Big swords, Vet Guerrillas, 1 mortar+S', 2 howizers+S' 1 Suicide AT Reserve:Lt+FT in jeep, BA-20, Pz I, Levy squad, US Marauders Deployment. Howitzers on my right flank. One tucked behind the house looking towards the church and the other within 12 of the first looking towards the square in the middle. Mortar behind the house overlooking the square. The big sword squads are going to cover the other flank. Spread out from each other but looking to use the houses as cover. Forward deployment. Depends on if there is a sniper or M30 spotter. If there's no sniper and I get first forward deploy I'll be dropping my AT guy behind the memorial to gain as much mid table positioning as I can. If there is a M30 spotter Guerrillas will try and hunt this to reduce its ability to see otherwise will take the ruins below the centre square. All 3 spotters in the upper woods and surrounding building - mortar spotter looking for sight on the M30. I will be playing a slow game looking to counter any push made towards me. Veteran troops are there to slow things down and keep the range. Reserves are my reactive force using the roads to get flamethrowers in place fast and the rifle fire infantry to come on and block.
@boltactiontutorialsbybomor3846 Жыл бұрын
I like that you focus on the M30. that is the main threat... shooting at houses and hitting your hidden units. staying back to counter a push would also be my plan in this mission.
@boltactiontutorialsbybomor3846 Жыл бұрын
Be mindfull that your howitzers may become a prime target for the M-30 if they both are inside of 6 inches of the same house
@OnlyFausts Жыл бұрын
@@boltactiontutorialsbybomor3846 Only one would be near the house, the other would just be close enough to the first howitzer for recrewing. On the off chance one takes an M30 hit the other would be able to recrew and get them both back in the game.

@@boltactiontutorialsbybomor3846 There is a fair amount of cover on this table. Lots of angles to watch for and I would expect the player forced into pushing forward first would end up in the weaker position.

What exactly do you mean by d-i-b? Just the number of dice your list generates, basically? How is it affected by deployment in any way?

List 1000 points, 17 Dice, 8 dice in reserve, 9 Dice in Bag 2LT, Inex (in Truck) - Reserve Free FO +1 man w/SMGs - DIB 3x Para Gurkha Sections, 7 men w/rifles - 2 DIB, 1 Reserve Royal Engr Section, Regular, 5 men w/rifles and flamethrower - DIB Royal Canadian Engr Section (MTO), Regular, 6 men w/rifles and flamethrower - Reserve Med Mortar, Inexp - DIB Sniper Team, Regular - DIB Land Mattress, Inexp - DIB PIAT Team, Regular (in Jeep) -Reserve 3x Early War Motorcycle with Sidecar, Regular, LMG 1 DIB, 2 Reserve M24 Caffee, Regular, Recce - DIB Jeep, Regular - carries PIAT - Reserve 15 CWT Truck, Regular - carries Canadian Engineers and 2LT - Reserve National Characteristics: Up and At ‘Em, except Canadians - Tough as Boots Plan: Concentrate on top (northern) half of the table. Attempt to get Motorcycles off enemy table edge. M24 was chosen because it out ranges and outguns Stuart. It has recce to protect against mine dogs and 2” HE to take out infantry in buildings. Majority of Para Gurkhas and Brit engineer will be building hopping and assaulting thru top third of table. M-30 only fires every other turn, and even if a building gets hit they are multi-story. Hopefully spotter gets killed quickly and M-30 has difficulty shooting into this area afterwards. Land Mattress likely deploys south of 2-story building near my map edge. Chaffee deploys at intersection on Road which enters top third of table, able to advance along road in either direction. Motorcycle deploys on same road ahead of and to side of Chaffee, allowing Caffee to pass. FO forward deploy behind LOS blocking terrain or building in top half of table. Sniper will forward deploy to engage M-30 Spotter, if unable to do that then in 2-story house with blue roof facing center square. Reserves: PIAT, Officer, Canadian Engineers, Jeep and Truck are intended to counter any move by Soviet Bren Carriers and Engineers to exit the map. Motorcycles attempt to exit map.

Sounds like a solid plan! be weary of buildings if the enemy has flamers a building on fire is likely to kill any units inside. Those Motorcycles could potentially get you up by 3 points and force the enemy to advance
