I use the same loading data as the Hornady book , i use the same load as a 143 eldx for the 142 sierra match kings hpbt. Oal is 2.825 , h4350 41.3 , lap the barrel and it will increase your accuracy. I use federal 210 Large rifle primers

Glad you are enjoying the channel. I don't intend to stop, I just didn't know if you guys were as interested in me rehashing some of my old load testing with some new "tweaks".

i can't get h4350 either. I did get Re17 and have be testing 123 and 147 ELD- M. I have also load 123 eld with Varget and varget with Sierra Match Kings 140 gr with ok results. Smallest group is mostly .4moa. Best load so far was 123 with varget at 39.2 gr and oal 2.710, Fed210M primer, once fired hornady full length sized brass. I am excited to try 147 gr eld with Re17. I plan to do 10 shots of 4 different loads up to and past max load by ..5gr.

Glad to hear that you are trying some alternatives out. I am doing some testing on a couple more powders and I have had some very interesting results, (at least I think so) stay tuned.

Another great vid. You can never have to much info when it comes to reloading. Your vids have made me start tweaking my pet loads seating depth and COAL still stuck on H4350. Thanks

Nothing wrong with H4350 thats for sure,. unless you can't find it. Always interested to hear what makes the most difference with your loads. I have a couple of more tools on the way to see if I see improvements in my own loads. I have been reading "Handloading for competition: Making the Target Bigger" by Glen Zediker that was recommended to me by the 6.5 guys. More to come for sure.

I think a redo of some vids would be welcomed, by me anyways, for the loads that shot well with maybe a different powder or increased powder charge closer to or at max. I like the Sierra 142s and the ELDM 140s thus far in you vids!!

I've been using the fed LRP with excellent results. I have been hesitant to change back to cci primers because I've had some reoccurring problems with them not going off in some other calibers I load, but I guess I may try a batch on my 6.5

Hi Bob, Thanks for the comment. No need to fix what isn't broke. Personally I haven't seen anything the justifies the doubling of the price of the BR primers from CCI. I have more testing to do of course, but I don't see myself settling on them in the end at his point. You never know though. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the channel.

do you ever work with the 260 rem cartridge?

Your RPR must just have a slow barrel in terms of velocity. Reason being in a 22" Savage 10 6.5 Creedmoor I'm getting 2710 fps with 41.2 gr H4350, CCI 200 primers and a 142 SMK. Using the same brass you are as well (Hornady)...
@BoltActionReloading

Most book data does not come out matching the book because of being slow, however I have a video on the way where my barrel actually exceeds the estimates.

appears the pressure flat area in the 6.5 guys video matches up with the bench rest video using the medium velocity load with the lowest SD ES his graph shows the medium velocity load has the flat pressure sign that would give the best accuracy. it's starting to make more sense 2 different people saying the same thing in different ways. medium pressure most cases would produce the flat pressure you want. if not find the flat pressure and run with it. supposedly it eliminates human error on test targets.

I have seen the video you linked to and it is one of the videos I have watched several times. Scott in this video is a very interesting guy and though I may not agree with him on everything I really think I should. Anyone that thinks he doesn't know what he is doing is wrong. Period. He is a proven shooter in the sport I want to play in. In another video with the 6.5 guys (more recent) he preaches about only needing to measure within .1 grains and demonstrates super low SD's. I am reading Glen Zedikers book that Ed talks about and I am hoping to pull a few things from it into my reloading process. Stay tuned to the channel, always more to come.

I am trying to build a good 6.5 round for 600-1200 yards even up to 1 mile stages in competitions. this is a new round for me from shooting the .308 I also have a RPR. what bullets would you start out with for those ranges? the berger eld & hybrids are popular. what do you think?
@BoltActionReloading
@BoltActionReloading 7 жыл бұрын
its hard to say. If I could get to a mile easily I would be playing around with the 147 ELD's and buy some reloader 16 and see what happened. I haven't tried it yet but its on my list.

This may not be the place to put this comment but I've tried some 100 gr ballistic tip for a possible deer cartridge,and for a close enough speed I'm thinking this could obsolete the 25-06 for a small whitetail rifle could you do a video on something like that exploring that option with this caliber

No worries about the correct place to post. In the comments if fine. What projectile exactly are you thinking of? I did some testing on the 100gr ELD (not a hunting round of course) but the velocity vs energy on target seems like a 135 gr might be more suitable. Glad to hear any input you have on this.

You could try Varget OR IMR 4350, I hear it's the same as H4350 now that it's owned by the Hodgdon boys. Story I read a while back was that they stopped producing H4350 for a bit, think they may be planning to combining the 2 brands into one. H4895 works great on my 308Win. may have to try it on my 6.5 CM. (RPR).
@BoltActionReloading
@BoltActionReloading 7 жыл бұрын
+Steve Duvall I am pretty sure they are still different prefers. IMR 4350 is not as temperature stable as h4350 and load data is not identical.

I encourage you to refine the best of you old load. Take a gread load and make 10 or 20 of them and do 2 to 4 5 shot video/targets. sometime you get a flied that might make a good load great.

I seen bench rest shooters creating loads without a target. just using a chrono taking the lowest ES. they say the math doesn't lie where human factor shooting paper with human error even on their level can lead you astray. they say take they usually take second highest velocity load with the lowest ES and it's usually the best shooting load. testing. .1 incrim to .2 confirming weights to the hundredth of grain. each kernel counts

+JB there are many theories out there and everyone does it a little different. I have seen people spend 2k on a scale for weighing charges, and others are able to throw charges and easily have single digit SD's. I have a hard time anymore thinking that when you calculate that .1 grains of powder is roughly 6-8fps that measuring to .01 gr is going to make that big of a difference. My way of thinking is if you have a ES of 30 or more. The problem is not my electronic scale.
@Johnyrocket70

I seen some good gem scales for about $145. .01 gr

I know that the gempro 250 is in that range and someday I might buy one. I follow "Johnny's reloading bench " religiously and he ahs one and seems to like it. I have no issue with it. It gives you a extra digit however read carefully "published tolerance of .02 grains" is it better yes, however its not .01. But like I said to each onto their own.

I know its old post but the gun itself ,Ruger Precision is the same and ......piece of garbage ? or reloader still learning , most likely both , ANY good gun with H4350 and 142 SMK should make one whole at 100 yards at 42 grains and 2.780 AOL . Have friends going for Ruger Precision ( because of price ) 6.5 CR or .308 only to be disappointed and buy different Rifle sooner or later that shoots lights out with same loads ,Ruger is good for 22 LR and they should stay with it ,my 2 cents
