I'm just a plingker using mostly pistol caliber ammo. No bullseye or very precession shooting. So I reload mainly because it's a fun hobby, to save money and to have an alternative when there is a shortage of ammo.

The 30-06 has numerous records in 1000 yard shooting. I love my pre 64 model 70. They are a definite exception to the free floating barrel requirement for accuracy. They are fully bedded to the forend. The fit is amazing. I've never been around one that wasn't a MOA rifle. My 270 printed dime sized groups with federal blue box. My 30-06 is amazing.

I'm not a "high volume" reloader. Most i do at a stretch is 40 or 50 rounds, and i only reload 2 different calibers and 12ga shotgun shells. I don't have a progressive press. I use the classic Lee single stage with the quick change bushings. More than adequate. I don't use an automatic powder measure/dispenser either. Just the Lee powder dippers and an electronic scale i got on Amazon. I do use a powder drop tube to get a really consistent powder fill in my cases. Doing everything in steps really speeds up the process. Weigh all your powder charges all at once. Prime all your cases at once. Seat all your bullets at once, etc. Edit: For all the new guys, all the expensive gucci dies don't do a damned thing differently or better than Lee dies.

Neck tension is the grip imparted by a neck on a bullet. It's not just the difference between neck ID and bullet OD. It is also the lubricity between two surfaces, and the amount of surface area in contact. More specifically, a proxy for these variables is the static coefficient of friction. How much energy it takes to move the bullet. More at the start, but still some when it's moving.

Nice video. To me consistency in volume, weight, or neck thickness is interesting, but only relevant if it translates into accuracy. I’d love to see the group sizes each brand of case delivers with an identical, known accurate load.

Looking to switch to this method of setting neck tension. When using the expander mandrel to set tension, im guessing you use it just before you charge and seat bullet. If thats correct, does it matter what type of FL sizing die you use? Currently im using the redding s bushing die. Is it simple enough to just use the same die but simply adding the mandrel at the end to dp the final set tension? Do i need to remove the bushing in the die or does that stay in?

Trying to decide between this and the SAC Nexus. As a new reloader, does it really matter? Have watched a number of your videos, and similar to the co-ax vs nexus I’m also trying to decide between (a) Franklin arsenal trimmer vs giraud (b) Chargemaster link a&d fx120i (c) basic induction/flame annealer vs AMP. If you have any advice on any of those let me know! I can afford them, but just don’t know enough yet to know if there’s a noticeable difference. Thanks!

I like my coax but have all but retired it at this point favoring my nexus. The only real downside of the nexus is possibly needing additional shelholders. If you know what calibers you want to load, check to see if this even matters to you. You will never be sorry you got an fx120i. And the henderson trimmers is great, unless the giruad has an advantage for your situation. The price of the amp continues to rise, but it's because it's the best. If mine broke tomorrow, I'd buy a new one. Wish I knew how many cases I have annealed, probably 20k or more. If you have any specific questions, ask. I try to respond but I don't always get notified consistently. BAR

The interesting thing is how I've gotten great groups doing near nothing like trimming cleaning etcetera. Pick a charge. Prime, dump in powder, cram in a bullet. I used to reload 180 gr 30-06 loads by priming, scooping out a case full of IMR4831 and cramming a bullet in. Worked great. Ran 308 through a 260 rem die, primed, picked the second highest charge of aa4350 crammed in a 120 gr Hornaday. Sub MOA GROUPS.

I honestly started because I wanted cheaper ammo, but, reloading feels like it puts me on a personal level with my 338, similar to working on your car and that’s why I still do it. Not fast, but I enjoy all the little bits to it.

I really appreciate this. I’ve been a subscriber for about 2 1/2 years now, maybe longer. On my channel, some have commented that I need a chronograph to tell me more about my loads. I am thankful that today, I received a Garmin Xero C1 chronograph from Amazon. I have yet to use it. But what I have said in my videos is, that when you see horizontal stringing of rounds, that is an indication of a velocity node. I see that in your group at 41.2 grains. You had an SD of 6.3. Those shots strung horizontally. At 43.3 grains, you had an SD of 6.2, and those strung horizontally. Your best group was at 43.5 with an SD of 7.8-excellent. And those were nearly one ragged hole. Excellent performance! But I think this verifies my notion that when you have a velocity node, you will likely see the impacts stringing horizontally (even if you don’t own a chronograph, which I now have-yay me!) Thanks for the content. Keep it coming. Dennis Phillips.

It is strange, I tried several hige grade seaters, and I had to buy several different stems. But my Lee never left a mark on any bullets of mine. So that is the only one I use nowadays.

As someone who teaches Intro to Statistics courses, the correlation coefficients of -0.971 and -0.617 are significant (meaning there does appear to be a linear relationship) if you measured all 100 cases of both brands. Look up Pearson Correlation Critical Values if you want to see it. And, as someone who is on the first firing of new Starline brass for 7mm-08, thank you for this video. I'll be sure to weigh/sort cases after I get through the first firing.

I have been using it on my last 2 barrels and I have to say it’s so easy to use but you will definitely lose velocity and your barrel won’t speed up! Right now my charge weight is 78.4grs H1000 to get 2880 with berger 220 which is almost 2 grs more than it should be for a 28” barrel

I purchased the Rock Chucker Master Reloading Kit about 30+ years ago. The thing I discovered about the little tools included in the kit, is that (in the beginning) you don’t know what you need them for. But, they are useful. At that time KZbin didn’t exist. The RCBS Kit included a rotary case trimmer that had a collet type system. It didn’t work very well, and I ended up with cases of various lengths. Maybe KZbin would have helped, but I think the case trimmer was just junk. I soon switched to the simple $10 Lee case trimmer pieces that I used with a drill. Calipers were an immediate need, and a tumbler wasn’t far behind. This Rebel kit looks good except for that cheap Chinese digital scale. Regardless, a guys gonna end up buying more stuff.

Starts video by saying not to believe keyboard warriors....makes 12 minute video proving himself correct....ends by saying go with what the manufacturer tells you and don't mix the two?? All I know is when I use .223 in my AR the groups are horrible vs 5.56 which nets good groups. And sure, maybe the components are very similar and the throat isn't **that** much different.....but at these pressures why mess with it? This is a very well documented difference with mountains of research behind it.
