Hard to complain about it for $34. I had a discussion with someone yesterday who was into uber expensive cordless drills. Kind of "buy one and buy the best". Defining what 'is' is will do that to a soul. So many safety personnel steadfastly refuse any common-sense approaches to safety, while being safe, simply due to such not conforming to what was taught and what their safety documents detail. They want a 'one-size fits all' approach, which simply isn't feasible.

TTI makes lower grade tools than Ryobi? I own a bunch of the green bastards, but they're really only good for weekend warrior type shit. The chuck on the "hammer drill" I got _visibly_ wobbles around so it's my go-to for abusive tasks like using it as a wire wheel.

Yeah, they're TTI. Den of Tools has mentioned that on multiple occasions. They're only a little cheaper (in price) than Ryobi, typically, so I don't bother with them myself - I already have enough battery systems as it is. Especially when TTI has outlet stores that sell Ridgid and Ryobi at great prices (lookup Direct Tools Factory Outlet).

Your little chain saw faux pas reminded me of something I did. I bought an electric chain saw 2 years ago. I took it out of the box and started using it. It ran great and really cut the wood. I made 2 or 3 cuts and set it down. When I picked it back up it wouldn't do anything. I thought it was an infant mortality case. I took it back and exchanged it for another one. This one ran great. I found out later that I had inadvertently hit the chain break bar on the first one. That was why it didn't work. Doh!

I've got both those tools, bought in a 5 tool set on sale for $79 with two batteries and charge. I've given the drill and recip saw a few good hot suppers and other than not being that powerful, they've been OK. The 1/4 impact failed on the third light use, but I disassembled it, blew a lot of crap out of the brushes and it's working good. For $80 it was a great deal, for full price I'd buy Ridgid instead. And you're right, both are too long, but IMO that's the brushed motor. and the 4 amp batteries have a charge indicator.

My wife brought these home for me last year after my old Dewalt died. The chuck on the drill is rather crappy but it gets the job done. Since I'm not wrenching on cars or laying under industrial machines having gobs of grease and dead insects falling on my face, these two Hart tools are decent. I bought two extra higher capacity batteries. Having a state of charge indicator on the batteries would have been nice. Good video, as usual.

I’m not saying they are the best but I really like ryobi, the old stuff anyways. I bought a combo set in probably 2002 that included a drill, jig saw, sawzall, circular saw, chainsaw, Dustbuster style vacuum, and a light. I use them a lot and have for the last 20 years and nothing has broke yet other than the batteries, their batteries are junk but I’ll gladly buy a new set of batteries every 6-7 years for tools that won’t die.

Sorry not a comment on this video, but a prior one. You were driving pins into a screwdriver handle, your punch kept bouncing off the pin. I use a socket extension with a socket attached to drive pins, keeps the "punch" centered on the pin. Sometimes I have to use a deepwell, then change as it gets closer to the surface. Quick, dirty, and I have a LOT of old socket extensions.

I’ve been curious about these since they came out, wondering if they were higher quality than the hyper tough tools Walmart has sold for years. Considering these Hart tools are more expensive you would think yes however I have a hyper tough drill that I bought when i was 18, still chooches to this day. I’ve torn it down before out of curiosity and it seems to be about the exact same quality as this Hart if not a hair better and the hyper tough seemed to be put together a little better. The front end of the hyper tough is screwed into the case, the chuck is a little shorter, and the chuck jaws don’t look like trash. I’ve used this hyper tough drill for 8 years now and it far exceeded my expectations. I even bought another one and the impact driver because of it witch the new drill seems even better than the old one. Feels like it might have slightly better components in it. And the impact driver works like any other. 1375 in. lbs & 2700 no load rpm, plus a battery and charger and the drill all for $44, shit I ain’t gonna complain. I mean it ain’t no Milwaukee or Makita from the good ole days but if that’s all you can afford no sweat it’ll get the job done.

Got that set for 80 bucks. I use them for doing car audio work mostly. For light to medium duty you can't beat them at that price. The highest torque job I've used them for is removing those heft seatbelt bolts. Those things are pretty stout and have thread seal on them so they're a decent test. I can't complain about these things at all.

Hazard fraught just released a 1400 ft lb impact under their Hercules line. Your review of the earthquake xt 1200 is what made me get it (and it's still chooching wonderfully) but I know you also showed how many corners they cut in their Hercules drill. Curious your sight on those, and on graphene batteries CAT has out through positec and if graphene is really as incredible as all the news updates about it say it will be yet.

Hart are TTI, and most of them are basically Ryobi with a different battery connector. At least when the brand showed up again a few years back they were taken apart and found to be basically identical to certain ryobi tools. That said Ryobi batteries are almost constantly on sale for pennies and Walmart seems to want Milwaukee prices for Hart batteries so i still wouldnt recommend them. That and as you said, the cost of a dewalt Atomic brushless set compared to these makes these a rough value.

I wouldn't pay retail for these tools but I have picked up several Hart 20v tools on clearance at Walmart. Mostly vacuums, work lights, glue gun, inverter, etc. but they've all been pretty decent tools. Walmart likes to get rid of old stock stuff quickly so you can find clearance deals on these tools pretty regularly. Good for random household stuff. I wouldn't rely on the drills, saws or impacts really though. Adequate for homeowners in that regard.

In terms of a brushed tool. Especially from Walmart these things are actually decent to use. Very unrefined (you feel the vibrations alot) but plenty strong. Used them around the house to hang a baby gate with 4 inch screws into solid wood door frame the sawzall to cut down rusty exhaust pipe not sure on the drill

The cheap drills just don't have the torque of the better ones. Our Milwaukee died at work, so my boss bought a new one. I "forgot" to mention to him that you could buy tool only. So, I took the 3 batteries and charger home and only had to fork out for the drill to match. Before that, I had a cheap black&decker and I hated that thing.

Hart is made by TTi (the same guys who design and manufacture Milwaukee tools) but they are definitely cheaper than their Ryobi lineup. I pretty much stick to cheap hand tools by Hart such as a multitool, a hammer, and a stud finder that are all currently in my tool bag. Would I pick them by choice in the future, nope. Did I find these on Walmart Rollback for less than $5 each; yes I did so I will continue buying Hart stuff as long as the price is right and I am not expecting too much out of them in the first place.

I bought one of the drills at a pawn shop. I was out of state and needed a drill for a quick repair. I think I paid $15 for it. It turned out to be a nice drill with one problem. The clutch. It'll go into lower settings. Getting it back to a solid drill or no clutch is tough. It holds a charge great. Endurance is good. I'm using it until it drops. I take my trusty B&D 1/2" drill I've had for 35+ years as well.

these kind of drills are almost modular, i think a lot of "off brand" power tools mix and match them. very little variation in the manufacturing from other of the same class tools i've seen. i think the manufacturers go to trade fairs and look at chucks and say 'that'll do', go to the trigger booth and see what the cheapest one is, etc.

I was a scaffolder for 30 years and for the last 10 or so I carried Hart 21 ounce framing hammers exclusively. Yeah, they broke, but I regard hammers as a consumable when using Kwikstage type scaffolding. The flat claws were invaluable as a pick when creating level pads for soleboards on hillsides. Tried an Estwing. Almost as good for way more money.
