I always believe that BTS tends to bring more than one string of thinking into their songs. To me, in this case this song engages the Map of the Soul concept underneath the more approachable exterior meaning. I hear Jungian elements which echo those in the song On as to shadows emerging creating dissonance and pain which must be accepted and integrated into one's conscious existence for true understanding of one's being. This individuation process is not a clean metamorphosis into a butterfly but an emotional struggle which produces a new normal. I feel this song does put forward BTS's struggles to plow forward as entertainers (Suga's verses consistently do this across many songs), but simultaneously discusses their struggles to plow through the "noise" of Shadow and Persona elements not aligning. MOTS theming to me seems to be about how we adjust to move forward as we become fuller individuals by focusing on the boy's processes of going through this.

RM said on a VLive that this is a song for ARMY. To me, they're talking about seeing the pain and unhappiness that ARMY is going through in their regular lives. The "shadows behind the cheers"". RM's verse talks about how he feels like he's "nothin'er than nothing" but ARMY tells him that he's "sumthin'er than sumthin'" and he tells us not to give up our lives. He's afraid that BTS isn't worthy of the love that ARMY gives them and that they shouldn't have the power to literally save lives with their music. Suga's verse is talking about how if they don't do it, who will? To me, he's saying, if BTS doesn't sing for their fans, who will? They promise to continue singing for us, too. Also, remember, the BTS light sticks are called Bombs. Just my thoughts on this song. It's one of my absolute favorites because of the meaning that I get from it, though.

I love your reactions and I can tell that you sincerely appreciate BTS' artwork so I want to advise that you avoid this lyric channel and another one called jaeguchi. These lyrics are mistranslated and a lot of beauty has been lost due to how it was translated! Doolset bangtan is probably the best place for accurate lyric translation!
