So far, this video has been the only video I've found online that even mentions the heat capacity of the calorimeter. I was searching for this equation and info for about 2 hours before I found this. Thank you

Since the reaction released energy to the calorimeter. This solution is wrong because the reaction was exothermic and should have been negative. But I really liked the way you explained. Thanks ☺

when i solved ignoring the negative sign on -3227kJ/mol i got 2237J/degree C. when i used the negative a got -9007~ ... did i miss something ? also why am i off on my answers ? i used exact values and didnt round anywhere... can you explain how to solve the answer for the last problem please ?

Is it worth to mention that this is the Heat a Constant Volume and the data available is Heat at constant Pressure. So you have to use the relation H = U + PV = U + nRT to convert one into another

I have a question, How did the 17,405.44J and the 2688.00j turns into KJ when they are both added aren't they just still joules? and if you want it to be in KJ it needed to be divided to 1000 J?

How did you get 2243 J/C if the total heat combustion is -3227. I tried to solve by ignoring the negative sign, I got the same answer. Otherwise, it's totally different. Did I miss something?

q for water have to be released so (q for water is negative) , right ?
@stansacademy10 жыл бұрын
'q' for water when heat is released is -ve. When you calculate delta t use t initial - t final and you will get -ve q or enthalpy or internal energy.

@stansacademy10 жыл бұрын
The molar mass should be around 128.18 g/mol that was an error and there is a correction on the video. You need to have flash to see it.
@austinshields86278 жыл бұрын
+Vinstan you need to edit this video to fix the molar mass problem, which makes your final answer incorrect. I'm sure a majority of students are now watching their videos on cellphones now and the error corrections don't show up.

I need a urgent help about bomb calorimeter . I want to ask two question that is, 1- bomb calorimeter alway used in constant volume ? because constant volume calorimetre its second name. means in bomb calorimeter which thing is constant , pressure , volume or both ??? 2- heat is release in combustion process so why don't you use negative sign in it. I mean if it is a mcqs type question in exam and we have a two same answer but just different in sign so which one we choose ????? please answer my questions , my exam will be next on tuesday please help . thanks for explained it .excellent video no doubt ......
@stansacademy8 жыл бұрын
+Duray Stuff & Crafts 1. In bomb calorimeters we determine heat change at constant volume, not constant pressure. It is Delta E or Cv as represented in certain books. 2. If you calculate the temperature change as (Initial Temperature - Final Temperature) then Delta T will be -v, this will yield a -ve value for the heat of combustion, then the value will be in agreement with the conventional concept. In the video the temperature is calculated as Final - Initial temperature, which is incorrect that is why you see a positive value. The answer should be and is negative.
@DurayStuffCrafts8 жыл бұрын
+Vinstan thank you so much , now I understand this concept .thanks alot . excellent video thank you .
