The differences between wheels are small but noticeables: inline skates have the tightest turns, the best air boosted tricks, but also the shorter manual of everything bar foot. The skateboard is a middle ground: decent turning radius, decent manual, and relatively short boost tricks with decent forward momentum. The BMX is the big beast: great rail hitbox, long manual, very quick ground boosted trick, but also very slow and relatively immobile air boosted tricks. Foot allows for pinpoint control, increased jump height, and the low slide. One thing the game doesn't tell you is that each way of moving around is necessary to unlock specific secrets/alternate paths: on foot lets you use the low slide; when on top of glass surfaces, using the inline skates' manual will cause the glass to break; the skateboard can attach itself to the small red fire hydrants and raise them up by tricking on top; and finally the BMX can open bike garages (the big doors with the bike sign in front of them) by standing on the platform in front of them long enough.

11:45 - In one of the Dev interviews, I believe it was said the mixtapes on cell phones was a thing from when they were younger (the Devs) as far as how they shared music with each other. One of those things where while there is a huge inspiration from JSR/JSRF in BRC, gotta remember that this wasn't meant to be a sequel to them and it does it's own thing.
@Under10Hours Жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true. I guess it’s more of a preference, but for me having to collect tapes meant I was hearing a lot of the same songs early on, basically on repeat. Instead of engaging me, it became a bit of white noise. The music is great, and the mixtape idea makes sense when you put it like that. I prefer it would have been a bit more deliberately designed.

JSRF has been ingrained in to my life ever since it came out, and every few years ill dust off the OG XBox and 100% it for the 20th time. I love every aspect of it and know every nook and cranny of each level. When I first heard about Team Reptile and played lethal league many years ago I mentioned to my friend how the art style and character design had a very JSRF feel. They looked really cool. When they released the first trailer for Bomb Rush it hit me like a ton of bricks and made so much sense at the same time. Of course they would make a game like this. its a perfect fit. Ive been so hype for this game to come out and this has been the only game ive been waiting for for the past 3 years. I just finished the story and am now working to finish all the level side stuff and 100% the achievements on Steam. This game has been so much fun and scratched every JSRF itch i had. Coming from JSRF as a speedrunner, I found this game was a bit more slow paced. LIke the speeds of grinding are slower in this game, and the boost isn't as powerful in JSRF. Having to also stop in bullet time to spray paint in a way is slower then just holding down the spray paint button and zooming across graffiti in JSRF.

Not thinking much going into it but having done parkour and graffiti for 4 years really made this a big pleasure to me. The gameplay feels super smooth after adjusting in the first couple of hours and combining all the possible moves to get the most stylish and fluid outcome is really fun. 9/10 for me. Only thing I’m missing is the option to select which songs you want to skip [I hate the girl operator song.] also the option to have a special boost trick for every trick button and not just one per air grind and manual/slide would be great!
@capitalex5422 Жыл бұрын
I came in at JSRF on the original xbox. And BRC was a step up in so many ways. I figured out how to instantly finish off police offices and take them down in groups. There are lot of things I remember for JSRF that I wish got improved. And BRC delivered. Combat was not good in JSRF. The levels and areas were to confined, managing spray cans wasn't fun, managing health even worse. The player in BRC has the ability to instantly take down groups of cops if you attack > jump. I also personally didn't miss the verticality of JSRF. Rokkaku Dai Heights was not fun to traverse. It was hard to find good lines of flow. If you ended up needing to go up stairs, you had to slowly shuffle up them. Fall damage sucked. HOWEVER. BRC movement system was such a step up from JSRF, I think they could have been a bit bolder with vertical sections. There are lots of tricky to navigate spots in BRC that I caught myself thinking "I would have HATE this in JSRF". I think a BRC take on Rokkaku Dai Heights would have been incredible to see. Especially since BRC got rid of fall damage unless you fall out of the level. The trick system was a wonderful blend of THPS and JSRF. The no bail instant grind of JSRF and the need to combo and trick from THPS made a great combination. Having ground tricks opened up so many possibilities and lines. Honestly, only complaint here is I wish there was more tricks to bust out. Also, I enjoyed the graffiti time very much. Being able to input you graphic was a nice touch. It made me feel pretty bad ass. Additionally, it removed all the memories I had of "I ran out of cans fuck" and awkwardly waddling around to spray a maker I missed. I definitely missed DJ Professor K. Maybe they could have gotten the woman from the trailer to run an underground twitch stream, lmao. My opinion is by stated by Naganuma: *JUST CAN'T GET ENUF.*

I played JSRF and loved it and though I agree with alot of what you said about Bomb Rush stages feeling a bit flat, the lack of a radio and a host, I noticed you didn't mention something me and my younger brother0 loved, but felt it was a bit lacking from JSRF. The Multiplayer! It was only 2 players and not many game modes but even so we sunk hours into it. Whenever I thought of JSR3 I thought fun multiplayer. I really do love Bomb rush but man.....I really prayed for some kind multiplayer experience. I hope this game gets sequels, maybe I'll get the multiplayer I always wanted. You can't deny seeing your crew members in Bomb rush performing tricks on the map is great to see, now imagine it's you and the boys, maybe in a game of crew battle against another team, or a game of tagging the most spots whilst tagging over your opponents, or just a free roam where you can vibe with other players in the same zone, following the topscorer to learn his route or trying to figure out how the dancing Shine got to that unreachable spot. See, I felt that the whole radio story element was sorta spiritually reborn in the form of DJ Cyber. Since he was a member of the big 3 he influenced all the gangs through his music. Tryce himself states he's waiting on his next album drop. I think maybe what Team Reptile wanted to go for was for a DJ Professor K that was more active in the turf wars and instead of having a narrative dump between areas, we instead got a more active story with himself physically moving the story along. And while I enjoy the idea of it being a radio station, I guess I just don't mind the transition to it being on the internet. It just seems more natural in a modern version of JSR. Overall I think the game does just enough things to put it in a different direction. I don't think it works as strongly in many of the senses you brought up though. Those Narrative dumps in JSR slapped. Billy Browns voice work sold the whole tone of the game to anybody who picked it up. Nothing cut-scene wise really compares to them in BRC.

I still think its unfair to compair video games ever. I appreciate BRC for its appeal to modern gamers. Free cam is HUGE and something I wish JSRF has now that I know of the big diff. JSRF will always be valid for a replay even today because of its maps, soundtrack, characters, DJ, and the street races. BRC got everything right imo when making a successor anything Jet Set. What I hope is that BOTH games get more popularity and support.

After 20 years it's 90% of what I could have dreamt it to be honestly I'd been happy if it was 70% I do have nit picks as well It doesn't feel as dense as jsrf the levels feel more like Tony hawk's 1-2 where you have a cool map to skate in but that's then painted in texture that matches what the level is supposed to be The mall is the best example of this who builds a mall this big then doesn't pack it with shops or people The lack of a narrator to tell the story externally from the cast of characters is the biggest missed opportunity rather than Pirate Radio just update it to unlisted live streaming every one has phones with internet juice I would have been cool to be skating then see all the NPCs pick up phones at once and start starring at them it would have been the same but different But the spray mechanic is just perfect I'd like it to still need cans to be collected and cans to power boost And I can't bumper ride behind cars but that's all very small stuff in the grand scheme of things

I enjoy BRC but its difficult for it to live up to JSR. For me there were lots of layers to JSR that just aren't present in BRC, mainly around challenge and difficulty. With JSR there was the selection of Character for the level, the time limit, the spray can management and intensity of the police. There were moments in JSR where I would be getting absolutely destroyed by the police with little health remaining and seconds on the clock to finish the level, it would create these amazing moments. Whereas BRC I never have to worry about a game over screen or struggle with any combos as the game is very, almost too easy at times. Although BRC feels amazing to play and is good vibes but it is no JSR... JSR is literally one of the greatest games ever made so it is very hard to live up to that and just happy we get another game in the form of BRC which is alot of fun
