This is actually really interesting with history. They included one of the most unknown weapons. The Schräge Musik cannons. You just flew under the enemy bombers and the upwards facing cannons would shoot into the underside of the bomber, no second crewmember needed. They also developed a version that had photosensitive cells, so when you flew under the bomber, and it's shadow went over you, the cannons would start firing until the shadow went away.

Such things, if they indeed were developed and used in actual combat, would have been very costly and dangerous if the aircrafts equipped with them were under any sufficient cloud cover or when escorting friendly bombers....

They could be turned on an off very easily. Just a simple switch to complete the circuit the cells were based off of. Also, cloud coverage didn't provide a strong enough shadow to set them off (Would've been completely useless if they could) and the Do-217 (the plane the Ace was piloting) was not an escort. It was a heavy fighter, meant for intercepting bombers and occasionally CAS work

it was not.. it was a mission later in the game with upgraded people and plane.. the tips were there because it was a demo... regardless its not really all that hard... many youtubers fail this because they ignore the tips given to them.. like when asked to call in for backup using the radio when merrick shows up.. they just completely miss it then wonder why merrick is kicking their ass. the radio operator also has an auto tag ability that automatically tags everything around you.. it has a cooldown but its useful if there are alot of planes around you and you have other things to worry about.
