Si can you explain to us why there are so many roman pots in that area you go to? Was there a settlement there or has the river just washed all those pot shards to there over the centuries?

Very nice cobalt mini longneck bottle. Also, a nice boat wood frame to display some of your finds. I know that most boats are made of hardwoods and I would have stripped them down to the wood, glued and clamped the corners and would have done either a wax or linseed oiled the wood to make the old grains pop and preserve the wood. But then, that's just me. Glad y'all didn't go and blow yourselves up playing with those explosives like that.

The sole is a male adult half sole -from the rounded heel to the straight edge of the forward part of the arch. This was a common repair to a worn heel or in some new shoes, a second layer of leather added to the heel/arch of the sole to add rigidity to the shoe.

The soles of a lot of medieval turnshoes from the 14th century were seamed at the "waist" or the narrowest part of the sole. There are many finds with two-part soles in the archaeological record, even without repairs or added leather.

Simon, That was indeed a fun day since no ordinance was hurt in the making of this Vlog. I was a Custom picture framer/ restorer etc for almost forty years and I love your take on a shadow box, that wood is awesome. The light blue board really enhanced the finds, but I would have created a sandy ,pebbly board and sealed it with Acrylic Gel medium as background for the objects, reminiscent of their resting place for so many years, just a thought.:)
