So, What Josh Gates has done is reprehensible. I, however, think you may have confused with someone else. Josh Gates is known as a low-level Millionaire adventurer, meaning he is worth less than 5 million. He is not known for a cooking show. You may be thinking of the late Anthony Bourdain, who was a chef and did some adventure television, mostly food and culture-related.
@michaelfritts62493 ай бұрын
@@vexingcat9813Anthony Bourdain was cool. He allowed us to join him in his love of food, travel, culture and the wonderful cultures of places unfamiliar to many of his viewers. Josh Gates is a Saturday morning "kids" show.. staged. His "discoveries" are geared to dramatic presentations for the benefit of children who may or may not know this.. but might possibly peak the interest or inspire children to show interest in the "stuff" that they may know nothing about. What tourists see when looking at The Treasury is not the “first floor”. I remember a story from 3-4 decades ago, I don’t recall the minute details but, it went something like this: A tourist noticed that the ground changes from hard rock, before walking down the passage, and changes to hard, packed sand/dirt. This person noticed the change and, using basic math, found that the hard rock was at a different angle than the flat sand/dirt ground. That’s when a new lower level was found.

@peterwikvist24333 ай бұрын
A professional archaeologist would know if someone had been digging there before. There would be records of this and there would be signs of this in the soil. The executives of the Discovery Channel are dishonest and reckless in their behaviour. They willingly distort our history and portray archaeology as an Indiana Jones adventure. Popular Mechanics took the bait with an article written by Tim Newcomb, published on October 18, 2024, citing Josh Gates: “In the two centuries that Petra has been investigated by archaeologists, nothing like this has been found before. Even in front of one of the most famous buildings in the world … there are still huge discoveries to be made.”

What court would have jurisdiction, who would file the suit, and under what legislation, of what country, and in what country?
@MossyMozart2 ай бұрын
@John_Mack - It would have to be a lawsuit brought by somebody with standing who can demonstrate harm. Even if such a person came foreword, _Discovery_ would win like _FOG News_ has done several times - by claiming to be a mere entertainment channel that no reasonable person would believe.
@paddycoleman14723 ай бұрын
If this is correct then I am shocked that serious organisations like St Andrews University would get involved in this - they should be ashamed of themselves. This all seems to unnecessary as a serious documentary could have been made about finally excavating these tombs 20 years after they were originally discovered. They could have brought in the original archaeologists and made them part of the genuine examination and any discoveries. In reality, a genuine opportunity was missed.

If I were to guess, like you stated in the video, this was a publicity stunt to raise tourism interest. Unfortunately, a lot of those that were financially free to travel just a few years ago may be not be so comfortable to do so currently. Jordan's physical proximity to violent conflict in the region probably isn't helping either. Regardless, Jordan is just stunning. Very sad turn of events... I would love to believe that Josh Gates had no idea about the 2003/2005 discovery and was led to believe that they're discovering this now, but who knows? He would have had to have permission to dig, film, etc. So this was all known by every authority in the region... including the American ambassador, whom was on set. Thank you for the informative video, appreciate the truth! Wag the dog... (again)

Peak Clown-World. Nice. It was really only missing bringing in someone from a ghost hunting show to do a seance.

Thank you so much for telling the truth! I always new Expedition Unknown was a joke, but this is disgraceful.

All they had to do is film a simple follow-up of the re-opening of the already known about burials. Why are these non-Jordanians claiming credit indeed? That is even more transparent BS than usual. Thanks for exposing this. I saw the announcement and I didn't know any better, so I'm glad you set the record straight.

Yep. Just properly label the show as a dramatized re-enactment and properly credit the actual discoverers and dates of that dig.

I've seen Josh Gates' show and didn't take it seriously. It struck me as an ancient astronauts type of thing. He should have stuck with unreality that can't be fact checked.

Budget Indiana Jones is one of the most unwatchable people I’ve encountered. He’s like an American tourist masquerading as a “explorer”.

So sad, can not fathom why someone would do this..

The Discovery Channel owned by Warner Bros. - the same people that gave us the Looney tunes now give us groundbreaking archaeological discoveries. "That's All Folks."

I actually recall a documentary where they dug up both sides - Can confirm the "wall" in the doorway wasn't there. They never did go into the side Expedition unknown did (on the Documentary), I don't recall why as YEARS & YEARS AGO (political/tourism?).

Enjoyed the recorder rendition of Indiana Bones and the Last Crudite. Top tier humour, where SHADE was absolutely necessary.

Dear oh dear. This is why the general public doesn't trust anybody. GATES need to be CANCELLED immediately

There’s been enough real and dramatized ‘behind the scenes’ and ‘how the magic is made’ for most viewers to be cynical. They should have made it their April 1st episode.

Surely everybody must have known that it was nonsense. I mean the Holy Grail can't possibly be at Petra. Everybody knows it's at the bottom of a pit on Oak Island. Together with the original works of Shakespeare, Marie Antoinette's jewelry, the treasure of the Holy Roman Empire, the Ark of the Covenant and an unopened box containing an iPhone mk 1. ( allegedly !!)

This is the MAIN REASON I watch and keep up with Ancient Architects. Exposes the real true history with contex and is even handed. I wish there was a tv show that filed and taped back in 2005. I like Josh, but he knows he's a "Indiana Jones wanna-be" Josh should have had Harrison Ford on SITE! Your channel pulls the curtain back exposing OZ as just a lil man.

I watched the two-parter of this History channel show I had never watched. I did learn some new things- like about the church that was built after the big earthquake. But the stuff about the excavation... as I was watching it I kept thinking about everything I've learned from AA and knew immediately the whole clown show wasn't right. There's zero chance they would have just let a film crew and this loud actor (brush technique- omg) stomp around in there without having first measured, photographed etc. I've been waiting for this video from AA. Thank you for confirming my suspicions and turning me on to a new, proper, archeologist who deserves his flowers.
