During the right-wing boycott of Bud Light last August, Justice Samuel Alito sold a chunk of stock in Bud Light’s parent company and bought shares of Coors on the same day, according to a search of financial records by legal reporter Chris Geidner.

@@ari.631 Your assuming bias where none has been demonstrated (nor even the appearance of bias). A foundation for bias? Sure. It is possible that a poor weak minded judge's case performance might be influenced by the political motivations of his / her child. But on its own this amounts to nothing in terms of actual (or appearance of) bias. The Alito flag incident radically differs from your counter example. First there was a clear action taken to represent bias, the upside down US flag which represents Trump's stolen election BS. Second Alito has outright lied about its presence on his lawn. He said that the flag was there for only a brief time when in fact it had been there for days. Alito said it was not his idea but his wife's to fly the flag. Why make that comment if he thought he had done nothing wrong or perceptively wrong from the public's viewpoint? This attitude of Alito know casts a much narrower scope on the meaning of what a "brief time" period should mean. This now sounds like he is saying he came home one day to find the inverted flag hoisted high and he immediately corrected the situation. But it did not happen that way. The inverted flag flew for days according to news reports. So in fact, the two situations are radically different.

If it were a situation where his wife (or someone else) had hung the flag that way and upon discovery, he had taken immediate steps to correct the flag, I would not call for his resignation for showing overt bias. I would definitely call for an investigation further into Alito's doings and gone from there accordingly. But the fact is that he reacted defensively to this situation (I had no idea my wife was going to do this... It was put up for a brief time) and yet the flag (according to news sources) flew inverted for several days. He reacts defensively, as if his wife did something wrong (good so far) but then describes a few days of blatant symbolic Trump support as a "brief time" period??? Ahole Alito to be sure! 4th down his sorry Alito right off this bench and every other one! I hope his wife gets her comeuppance as well!

You're right, Congress's insider trading is far worse than this, and Pelosi does quite a lot of it. But this is a bipartisan indulgence, enjoyed by almost everyone in the Capitol. If highlighting Pelosi's insider trading is what gets Republicans on board with banning it, I can live with that. Then if Democrats can get on side by looking at Michael McCaul and Rick Scott, then that works for me too. The important thing is that trading by everyone who has any insider view on upcoming actions in any branch of government, has to be stopped.

I do not like Alito, and think that he is corrupt, but when you dump stock in the middle of a boycott, when prices are depressed, it isn't illegal. It also isn't particularly smart.. Alito threw away dollars because he believed that a boycott would work.. Has one ever?
