One of my favorite albums ever, frankly. There are some great “lyric videos” for these tracks, in ways amplifying your assessment of an AI experiencing a spiritual awakening. Still remember sitting in darkness watching them all together, unforgettable.

The creeks vocoder is special as it was specifically designed for bon iver. It's called the Messina and it takes his voice and applies that effect and allows him to play it on his keyboard. That way he's effectively able to sing a choir by himself. It's literally his sound engineer pushing forward the technology itself.

My wife and I fell in love with Creeks because of the heavy vocoder. I honestly still get chills listening to that song. It inspired my wife and I so much that we started creating our own music together. If you stripped that vocoder out of the song my wife and I never would’ve fell in love with it. I promise you, if you don’t like it initially try it again. Put on headphones, remove distractions, and close your eyes - that song will take you on a journey.

The biggest grower I have *ever* listened to. Stunning but overwhelming on first listen and then every time you come back, you catch something new in the background that adds so much colour. The soundscapes are so complex and developed that you miss these things to begin with but it's such an incredibly intricate and beautifully constructed project. Just wonderful. One of my favourite albums of all time.

Very much an album mind you. There are some standout tunes on there but it's one to be listened to in the whole, for sure. The contrast between the different vocal effects have so much more purpose and clarity as you go through the whole thing.

22, A Million is, without question, my favorite record of all time. This music is absolutely a religious experience for me. It brought me immense joy to see you experience it for the first time. I think Moon Water is supposed to make you feel a little bit uncomfortable, I think the idea is to sit with it and just let yourself experience it until it softens and becomes beautiful again when Circle begins.

Definitely a must listen for anyone in a dark place. It really helped me through one of the hardest times of my life.I heard this album when released driving over a mountain pass over looking the city I live in and 715-CREEKS starting playing…I cried and never knew why. To this day I still play this album almost every Sunday. BEAUTIFUL spiritual album. Thank you Bon Iver!!!

I'm a sailor and my ship was docking in Kotka, Finland during the winter. I went on shoreleave with my crew. When they all went to the city I went out in the woods, wandered through the snow and listened to this album on my headphones. It was probably the most serene moment in my life to date. Nothing else mattered than the present and I was content.

This album feels like I'm having fever dreams to my youth, in a good way. The beautiful innocence and vivid memories while being interupted by the unknown and scary present/future. I always describe it as 'feeling nostalgic for the future', if that makes any sense edit: Funny to see Jon having the same problems trying to describe how it feels. "M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" is another album which gives me a similar feeling. It's bittersweet and the theme is about how our dreams as children differ from dreams as adults

NO WAY JON. I love this album so much! one of my favorite ever. I was just wasting time and wanted to see a Bon Iver reaction and it happened that you just dropped this ❤ it's so unique and different from everything you have ever heard. it truly is an experience and I can't quite describe it to you. even tho it can sound VERY strange at first, with all the weird sounds that don't seem to "connect", in a way it gets better as time passes, you just learn to appreciate it.. absolutely beautiful. so emotional. I tear up listening to some tracks. it gave me peace when I had none.

creeks I think is one of his more popular songs within the fanbase. when I went to see him live last month, I think there were a lot of people in the crowd that were familiar with his music but were passive listeners, but when we started singing creeks there was an audible excitement from the crowd that wasn't very expected (at least for me) since his concerts are quite laid back. he also uses the autotune live which is super fun and different

I hated this album the first time I heard it, had just in the previous couple years gotten to know and love Bon Iver's earlier albums and tracks, so this drastic and intense shift in sound really threw me off. Then I listened to it again. And again. And then I cried, a lot, and fell in love. 715 Creeks is my all time favorite track of theirs, the layering makes it sound like he is crying the words out, the emotion kills me every time. 33 God makes me feel like I'm closer to God listening to it. It's about Justin Vernon's personal experience with knowing God, and it's written and recorded so beautifully I don't think any song could even come close in likeness. I love that you're enjoying this album on the first listen, and hearing what I couldn't my on my first. The artistry of this group is unmatched

You asked about the initial reception of the album when it first came out: It was definitely a bit mixed but generally was pretty positive. It seems like people either felt like it was a collection of assorted 'not quite finished sounding' sounds blended together to give the weird soundscape type album, or people really clicked with those disjointed sounds and enjoy it. I think a lot of people have come around it it in recent times though, I generally hear it spoken about with pretty high praise! I highly recommend the album prior to this (Bon Iver, Bon Iver), it's absolutely stunning as well and it's fun to see the jump in sound between his first 3 albums!

Bon Iver’s live NPR version of 29 #Strafford APTS, in my opinion, is the best version of itself. With the added percussion, it really lifts the song to another level. Life changing performance!

CREEKS fucked me up first listen, his soft vocals in the beginning to the yelling and louder vocals I found so passionate. No music needed or than the vocoder and that’s what hit for me. So good

It took a few listens for me to really get my head around this album but now it’s one of my favourites, it’s such a beautiful piece of art. You should listen to his track PDLIF, it’s absolutely incredible
