According to someone on Genius it's used ironically. The verse says that they are doing the right thing and want to show that they help their fellow man, but then end it on 'it's up to me if I don't wear a mask', showing that in practice they actually don't want to help those around them. It could be pointing to juxtaposition that people sometimes SAY they are nice, kind and just people, but in practice can be inherently selfish. It's an interesting take, but with Justin's music who knows! It's a great song though.
