this has to be the best video on this I have viewed. I love the way the install is clean and neat with the line guides and internal line run. I have 2 Titan 12's that I am going to put Trolling Motors on and needed a way to handle the steering. This definitely helps. Thanks a ton.

Thank you so much! I’m adding a rudder to my kayak..was on verge of making it into a skeg because wasn’t sure of running cables. As Soon as I saw YOU made a video, I knew it would show an exact and thorough solution, and boy I was right. I’ll be getting materials tomorrow morning and installing Rudder in the afternoon! (I was thinking steel cables, you nixed that idea). I really appreciate and enjoy your channel and videos. Thanks again! Have a great weekend. 👍👍👌

Great video man. I would probably copy yours no one has do that foot steering that nice on a RS117. The only reason I can't do foot steering if because I take mine out of the water a lot while I'm fishing because of shallow passes and sometimes I like to sit in the lilypads

@@Aksmaniyak Yep, that steering control arm is a bullet proof design which is easily installed on the trolling motor shaft without removing the trolling motor head and associated wiring. Nice to see it installed and put to use. Looks like your painted or powder coated it. BTW: Just took my sister out for a little joy ride. Ha Ha Neither one of us has ever ridden in an electric car. It has extremely quick acceleration, but doesn't have the sound effects i.e. side pipes and the tire smoking of my 1966 Ford Cobra Kit car that I built. Ha Ha They say you can tow up to 3500 lbs. with the Model Y and I think???? I could load my Hobie Pro Angler 14 in the back with one of those extender brackets that plug into the trailer hitch bracket. I could also tow my Scout Sport 177 flats type boat with it as well. Just thinking?????? John

@@Aksmaniyak Check this out. kzbin.info?search_query=boat+towing+with+a+Tesla+Model+y Looks like I am a little late to this game. The Tesla Model Y Trailer hitch is rated at 3500 lbs. Looks like some of the people in these videos may be exceeding that number?????? Funny to watch that small vehicle pull these boats from the water with little effort. Of course towing has a dramatic effect on the range of the miles that can be driven prior to charging. John

Thanks for the video... and how do you pass the Dyneema line into the irrigation tube?
@Aksmaniyak
@Aksmaniyak Жыл бұрын
You are welcome Edgar. If the tubes do not have any kinks, you can just slide the dyneema through them. If not, you can use a fish tape or wire and thread that through with the dyneema attached on one end.

I’ve hit a wall with my kayak. I got the new berleypro T lock steering upgrade for my native slayer max 10. We got that on but it’s really tricky figuring out how to get the nk180 motor steering attacked to the disc. Trying it as one line but not sure. Do you have any videos about installing motor steering on rudder kayaks??
@Aksmaniyak
@Aksmaniyak 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam. I have never worked with the NK system but a rudder system works the same as the motor shaft designs. The steering radius is not as tight as a trolling motor but that is because a paddle (if used) does not generate enough power. I had an Old Town MK Predator with the center motor and rudder but that is not as responsive either.
@adamgregory9198
@adamgregory9198 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aksmaniyak it’s hard with my native since foot peg steering is out. The only options are connect the motor steering to the handle-but you can’t really run 2 lines through. Or connect to the steering plate/disc in the back. I made it work with the previous steering disk. I connected the plate to the NK steering triangle with spectra cord and S biners. It isn’t working so great with the new Berleypro t lock disc. It’s a heavier disc to turn.
@Aksmaniyak
@Aksmaniyak 2 жыл бұрын
@@adamgregory9198 Since the turning system is a handle anyways, you might need to go to a tiller type steering.
@adamgregory9198
@adamgregory9198 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aksmaniyak yeah that’s what I’m afraid of. I’m going to try replacing two of the disc plate screws with eyelets and maybe I can better attach to those.

@@Aksmaniyak thanks for the input my dude. If there is one thing I’ve taken away from your videos it’s to never settle. I didn’t like the idea of a tiller and having to reach behind me to steer. We actually ended up finally figuring out the steering but it took engineering and cutting a custom part out of starboard for the steering disc. I’m now able to use the existing (upgraded) steering handle to control both my motor and kayak steering. Your videos really helped me realize what’s possible and I thank you for all the time you put into your work.
