That's pretty close to how I mounted mine a couple of years ago. Except I didn't need the cutting board, and put the toggle bolts in the top of the trolling motor mount. Both the Ride 135, and the Vibe Yellowfin 100 had enough flat space. Also I cut the trolling motor mount off vertically at the front bend instead of horizontally, so mine are a little shorter than yours is. I got the toggle bolt idea from James Burke. He sold motors, mounts, and controls which he called the "skimmer". I got the idea of using the standard motor mount directly from Randy's Treasure Adventures. Those two things greatly simplified what is often and overcomplicated job. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIvMmK1jgLaZgKssi=VMytRPbPZATxEgEY kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5zIf4J_n81sp7csi=wGk62Qx-DmCBUDJk

I know it's been a while since you done this video but I just found it. If you shorten the shaft like you did can you not cut the wires and just leave the excess wiring in the head and just put the cover back on? I'm thinking of getting one and doing this mod to it so the length is more in line with my Newport Vessels 55lb Kayak version trolling motor. I like this Haswing because it's brushless so it will be much more efficient, 8lbs lighter and the big thing and my main reason for getting one is the more proportion throttle vs the 5 steps on my NV trolling motor.

When you say that all of your power chords are fused, how many fuses did you use and on what chords? I would think one fuse between the motor and the esc and one fuse between the esc and the battery. Is this right? In other videos of this similar setup i thought that i only saw one fuse but I may be mistaken. Thanks in advance!

That should work GREAT!!!!! It has been some time but I remember utilizing something like that on one of my early trolling motor conversions. My friend Phil Krug engineered a Hobie Electra Drive PWM system for me that provided variable speed for my Hobie Pro Angler 14 in both forward and reverse operations. Instead of the foot switch he wired a remote variable speed pot for RPM control that I installed near my left armrest. I steer the Pro Angler 14 with the OEM hand operated steering controls on the right side of my kayak. He also shortened the shaft on the trolling motor and modified the fill plate to hold the motor and prop assembly. Also, I provided a lever that would allow you to manually provide extra steering control if needed that was mounted to the trolling motor shaft that extended up into the upper Kayak deck through the fill plate. The fill plate had the necessary pins that allowed for placing and removing the trolling motor from the OEM pedal mounting brackets. I am able to stow the Hobie Electra Drive or the OEM foot pedals in the front storage compartment of the Hobie Pro Angler 14 when not in use. This gives me the BEST of BOTH WORLDS. I can use electric system until the battery dies and then quickly remove the Hobie Electra Drive unit and place it in the front storage compartment and install the OEM foot pedals which can also fit in the front storage compartment when utilizing the Hobie Electra Drive and continue fishing etc. All the electronic components including the battery are stored in a small cooler which is placed behind the Hobie Seat. All the wiring is provided utilizing the Anderson power pole plugs so that the electric propulsion unit and small cooler can be easily unplugged and removed if not needed. I also provided a kill switch that is provided in case you accidently go overboard that stops the Hobie Electra Drive unit.🙂 The only drawback is that I had to make a little device to move the prop in the proper position for removal due to tight clearances. I have seen where others have utilized other trolling motor designs with different props that make it easy to remove he trolling motor. Hope this information provides help to others that are interested in these modifications.
