@n/a Excellent point. Because some bad things were done by one group (mainly white westerners) to people of other groups, we now have a complete over-reaction leading to the desire to identify as a victim (regardless of if they are) and to attack and suppress the rights (especially freedom of speech) of the descendants of those whom are judged to be oppressors. To this extent, it it dangerous to follow stories like this without an open mind and deliscernment.

Totally glorious in every way - Ben's gentle way, honest and open, in handling racial prejudice was years and years ahead of his time. There had not even been the Civil War yet, I believe. Young Douglas Lambert (Albert) was superb in his roll; I hope he had a great acting career.
@lynettepalecek31412 жыл бұрын
@Joe Owens. I agree Joe. This was a superb episode. Ben had an excellent way of showing Mr Norton's bigotry. According to Grjngo, Albert Michaelson won a presidential appointment to the Navel Academy in Annapolis from President Grant in 1869. He stayed on as an instructor after graduating. The Civil War started on April 12, 1861. Fortunately, President Lincoln and the US Constitution helped did help in a lot of ways. President Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. Slavery was abolished by the 13th Amendment. The 15th Amendment gave blacks the right to vote. The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. My mother had to deal with very prejudiced teachers when she was in school in the 1920s and 1930s. She grew up in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Bible was still taught in the public schools then. The teachers knew that she was English and Protestant. They preferred Catholic Irish students. She was exceptionally bright. She graduated from high school when she was 16 years old. She knew bigotry firsthand. I had a very prejudiced physical education teacher when I was in the 8th grade in 1970. She was so nasty to me because I had to wear a full body brace. She tried to force me to do activities that my doctor told me not to do. After I got a note from my doctor explaining what I could and could not do and I gave it to her, she flunked me!! When I asked her why, she said "I'm not going to let a little girl tell me what to do." My mother made her change my grade, but it wasn't until I was in college that I could socialize with people again. I understand extremely well what bigotry is like. I hope that you respond to this comment. I made a mistake by putting the word "helped" in a sentence that didn't belong there. I'm sorry about that.
