I freakin' LOVE Adam's character in this series. Bonanza had far more intelligence and depth when he was in the show...it got too silly and immature when it was just Little Joe and Hoss because although they were fun, nice guys, they weren't written as having the emotional maturity and intuition Adam had. I guess that's because he was the oldest son but Pernell Roberts also gave a cool, detached vibe to his role that was pretty awesome. I came to this show yeaaaaaars after it was first-run, but really became a major fan over time. Adam is definitely my favorite Cartwright! Awesome writing, interesting complexity in the characterizations, especially in this episode.

Totally agree. When Adam left the series it was not so interesting. HIs presence in a scene was the greatest feature in that scene. Loved all the emotional maturity and intuition Adam had also, Victoria Grace - sometimes he was too polite and avoided hurting feelings whereas Little Joe was more impulsive and immature. Plus he was so good looking and moved with such athleticism. One cool looking, handsome guy. He oozes charisma.

You got that right, Rebecca Martin! She may have come from 'back east', but here in Montana it's a freakin' phenomenon! I've met more women who are bullying, narcissistic, Machiavellian, materialistic a**h***s married to the nicest, kindest men, it makes me believe in that whole 'opposites attract' thing. And God help you if you ever marry one of their sons; you will never be as good a wife to him as his Mother thinks SHE would have been!

When little Miss Melinda just found herself helplessly fallen into Adams arms kissing him, why did Joe not ask her what she was doing? He only asked Adam, whom he has known all his life and not the little hussy he has only known for a few days. Then she just quietly slips off somewhere, not saying anything to Joe or anyone else. How is that okay? I think I would have a few questions for her also.

I never got to watch TV much when in my very strenuous work life and one of them was this series. The few times I saw it I saw shows that I thought were not the old, rugged west. It was like high society with a horse thrown in, etc. Years later now I like many of the shows...the kind that are more like a real western drama or cowboy life that I never saw many years ago. I like the actors, all, but "Adam" really impresses me, he that character that is very strong of mind and physical strength and he is very perceptive. He could spot a phony a mile away. It lacks as in almost every western film I ever saw; not very authentic...so full of myth and appears often as a rather polished set on a stage. Anyway, there is very interesting acting and ust good entertainment, cinematography is excellent, and it surely beats what they have in film today-TV & big screen.
