Let's you see this show, and cast, are good hearted people, to expose it. Racism is so crazy for me, to wrap my head around it. Because I wasn't raised around it, and I know now my mama shielded me, from knowing about the bad things going on, in the world around. I felt nothing but love, around me, and inside me, in my growing up years. So, being grown now, and am now, knowing those things, and learning my ancestry history of what they endured, the thing I just cannot wrap my head around, is what gives any race, the audacity, to actually believe they're better than another race, when God sees every one, of us, as a speck, of dust. "Don't ever think, too highly, of yourself, than you ought to,"
@detectivefiction37012 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, I think the show was very in touch with its own time, which was essentially the Civil Rights era. The issues it treated on the show reflected the struggles against prejudice that were happening in the real world.

Love the use of accents here. When the actor who plays Hop-Sing speaks without an accent in the teaser, it shows he's speaking in Hop-Sing's native tongue. Very clever for a show from the 60s!
@linsqopiring68162 жыл бұрын
You actually think the show did it on purpose? If so why not let him speak in a normal accent for the rest of the series. It was an uncaught slip up
@detectivefiction37012 жыл бұрын
No, the actor had to use a Chinese accent most of the time, in order to indicate that a language barrier exists between him and the Cartwrights. In that teaser, on the other hand, all the characters are Chinese, so I think we're meant to imagine that they're conversing in Chinese. Hence the actor didn't need to use his accent in the teaser.
@detectivefiction37012 жыл бұрын
In short, of course the show "did it on purpose.". The creators of the series weren't idiots; they wouldn't have allowed an "oversight" that big to make the final cut.

Same here. This is one episode that didn't bring good feelings as their others do. Racism is such an ugly word, and even to see it acted in a show, just let you see the stupidity, of it, though I greatly appreciate Bonanza for having the courage, to expose it, because some like to sweep it under the rug, like it's not there. I'm just looking for the day when everyone will be, on the same page. We sure were on the same page, in 2020 when the whole world was shut down, quarantined, and God was in everybody's face. That probably was the only time, in human history that God got some peace, from this world, of violence, and hate. During that period there was a brief time, in life where we all seemed like brothers, and sister's. God was saying to everyone, and esp. those who can't shut their mouth from talking, to "Shut up, and listen, to Me." I am very wary, of any who came out, of that still acting a fool. I don't want to be standing next, to them, no telling what's coming their way.
