Lorne, Michael, and Dan were very close and made several lucrative business deals together one of which was a stretch of beachfront in California. When Dan died they donated the property to the city and it was named after Dan Blocker. Many guest stars and cast have said they were always joking around and being pranksters on the set. One director was telling of a dramatic scene with Landon. Landon was goofing off before the scene and the director was trying to get him to be serious. When the scene came up Landon delivered a heavy, tearful, emotional scene and then went back to his fun.

Not surprising to anyone who has read about the man, and his concern and compassion for others. He was in the Selma Alabama March for civil rights in 1965. Just because he left the show doesn't mean he didn't like the other actors he worked with. He just didn't like the premise of the show - essentially, three grown men being treated essentially like children by their Pa, and also the lack of Native American actors playing the roles of Indians - that sort of thing. He was far ahead of his time.

No Bonanza wasn’t the same after Adam/Pernell left. The four of them played off each other so well as a family and Adam’s absence was greatly felt. But not only within the family but his character alone brought depth to the show. Pernell had put so much into Adam. But if his heart had really been in those last few years we had him as Adam; he would have given even more. Rest in peace, Adam Pernell Roberts Cartwright. ❤️❤️
