also most shelters don’t recommend stress bonding! just be patient with your bunnies. it may take days, it may take months. just go at your bunnies pace. it’s safer, healthier and i’m sure they would appreciate that much more than putting them through unnecessary stress.

You can also look for a female that is already spayed! Almost all rescues spay/neuter the bunnies before they are available for adoption and House Rabbit Society requires them to be fixed prior to going to their forever home. It definitely saves you a lot of money AND most importantly you are saving a bunnies life/giving them a loving home! Baby bunnies are definitely tempting to bring home, but there are so many adult rabbits in need of a home as well. Just something to think about. 😊 I hope your male bun has a speedy recovery after his surgery! You are doing right by him by getting him fixed, he will thank you later when he is finally able to bond with another bun. 🐰💕🐰

I somehow bonded my rabbits unintentionally by letting them free roam together for short periods because my longtime resident bun was so scared of the newbie. By time I tried to do a formal bonding session in a small room, I realized they were already ready to live together! They haven’t looked back lol. Edit: My male and female never fought (lucky me) it was a slow 1 month process because my female was terrified. She would scream if the new buns so much as sniffed her fur!

I had a similar experience once haha Many many years ago, after one of my first buns died (got them as a pair) I was looking for a new companion for my grieving bunny and actually had no clue that theres something as 'bonding' lol I got him a new girlfriend and just sat her into his enclosure. Lucky as I was they immediately started to cuddle and kiss each other. So it was an immediate bond 😍 They were 8 (almost 9) and 4 years old. In general I made the experience that the older they are the easier the bonding will be. My youngest couple to bond with both being 3 at that time took the longest with 2,5 weeks. Not that bad tho, I won't complain 😅

It was hard to bond our bunnies, really hard,but now they've been together for over a year and there's nothing more amazing than watch them take care of each other and groom each other ❤️❤️ Our Queen herself is sometimes frustrated with the boy and growl's at him,but at the other hand, HE is teasing her to that point and he just runs away with binky's,happy binky's🤦🏻♀️🤣 They've never been that aggressive towards each other to get other hurt👍 The humping is happening still (both have been zipzipped✂️) but it happens only for seconds,we don't even have to go in the middle of it(usually it's our Queen who's humping)🤷🏻♀️ The chasing is happening during the feeding/treat time only,but neither of them is aggressive of food🤷🏻♀️ They're together all the time and honestly it's the best thing in the world to watch ❤️❤️

Our rabbits are very familiar with each other's scents, after sharing a common play space for several weeks, and occasionally swapping cages. In their first few meetings (some accidental), there was no humping, biting, or fighting, and only minimal territorial pooping. However the male immediately targeted the female's eyes: a few licks followed by nips at her eyes. She cowers and closes her eyes. But she is definitely interested in him, because she visits his cage and tries to chew into it. Any suggestions? Do I just monitor and hope the "grooming" becomes less dangerous over time? Or is there something I can do to discourage this behaviour (e.g. spray bottle)?

As a bunny mother, I have to say that after we adopted a male to live with my two females it was a though process at the beginning and they didn't liked him at all, but as we made them approach slowly to each other they eventually went to accept the new presence until the day that both females started to play with him. Hey! I would love to see a video on why pellet free diets are the best. i would really like to change his diet but i'm kinda scared to be honest. My mom also is scared that my bunnies will become malnourished.
@followmeandmydaay3 жыл бұрын
The main reasons are that pellets, even if you find one without fillers, soy, wheat and that bad stuff, swell up in a rabbits stomach causing their gi tract to slow down and not doing well in combination with veggies (necessary) that are supposed to be digested faster. Another important reason is that they cause dental disease. Rabbits jaws and back teeth were build to grind the food between their teeth. So a left right motion. Pellets and anything that's hard such as rooty veggies or processed treats need to be chewed and cracked. So an up down motion which their jaw and teeth anatomy isn't made for. This motion results in their roots to be destroyed. A result of it can be retrograde growing, infected roots, teeth breaking through the jaw bone, abscesses and other horrible things. One of my bunnies has all of the above and believe me you don't want to experience it. The exotic vets and experts in my country already advice against pellets for many years now and there is no issue with them missing out nutrients. In fact pellets were invented during the war when rabbits needed to put on weight as quick as possible to be slaughtered. They had neither a benefit to their health in mind nor were they thinking of possible after effects since the rabbits were all slaughtered at a young age and the people didn't care

I have been struggling with bonding my bunnies. I have been trying for a year. My main issue is my male rabbit will give a bath to my female bunny, then he will shove his head under her probably cause he wants her to groom him. She does not groom him though and would usually shove his face away and put her head under again. He then will sniff at her butt and nip her. After this happens he chases her. She hyperventilates, fur flies everywhere. They will growl at each other. This only happens if we let him get to her butt. We have stopped letting him do that but that means the bonding sessions do not evolve and stay the same and it feels like they will never be able to be unsupervised together. The only improvement is that they can be friendly if there is a gate seperating them. He use to try biting her through the bars, now he doesn't do that.

I have a couple of points to bring up to the rabbit community during this pandemic time and also a question for you. Right now, a lot of rabbit shelters are closing up for awhile since they cannot do any sort of bunny dating or adoption stations at local pet shops. These shelters may need some donations and help to keep rescuing and helping all the bunnies that are in shelters. I faced this problem recently and was given the option to foster to adopt. Mostly all of the rabbit shelters around here (Northeastern Ohio) are basically closed up and appointment only for pick up only. No dating options available. HRS in LA had a webinar recently with a vet on board and they recommended to just wait a little bit before adopting right now since this is a big issue for shelters everywhere. OR be prepared to force a relationship that may not click quickly. Now here's my question for you, 101Rabbits. I adopted a new bunny about a month ago and had to bring her back to the shelter due to so many reasons. But the biggest reason was due to the stress on my resident bunny that actually accelerated a underlying physical disease which resulted in ER visits. He is doing a bit better now that he has FULL 24/7 care happening but this is something that may continue to be long-term health management. He has kidney disease and we are still trying to figure out whether this is acute (progressive) or chronic (and manageable). I wanted him to have a forever friend, but now I feel like he may not be a suitable candidate due to his condition. What do you think? Do geriatric bunnies make good bonding mates as long as their symptoms are managed? Or do you think he should remain independent?

Hello!!! I am new to rabbits, I just rescued one. I am having trouble with him being very destructive (I know they like to chew) he has plenty of toys. I am struggling with litter training.

But wait I have a 2, almost 3 year old fixed bunny girl who we have had for about 2 years. Just got a baby bunny girl who is not fixed cause she isn't old enough yet.. Do I need to keep them separate for a few month then after the surgery bond them? Or can I bond them now?

Hi:) i have a bunny (female, lionhead/Holland lop mix, 3y) who lost her sister. (Sister had a disability with her teeth that Caused them to be too hard for her to grind down with hay). Right after her sister died she was very depressed, and kind of excluded me and didnt want to meet me anymore. I have used nearly a year to bond with her again, and now she comes running for pets when she hears me. I think she is ready for a new friend, but since she is a very dominant bunny Im thinking of getting a boy. She is not neutered yet, but i am planning to in the near future:) personally i want a baby bunny so i can start learning them handling from the start, as i got my bunny when she had lived outside for 2/3 months with her whole family. She had never been picked up and never been groomed, took me year before she would come to me and sit still for more than a couple of seconds. Would you recommend starting to bond them when the other bunny is still a baby, teenager or wait to when the other bunny is completely grown up? Or should i let them see each other when the other is a baby and then let them meet after baby boy is neutered?

My rescue bunny had 2 failed bonds and therefore I rescued her as a single house bunny. She has been spayed for over a year now and I have discussed bonding with the RSPCA where I got her from. They have said they will attempt to bond her again however she would have to go to them for potentially up to a week so I am going to wait until the lockdown is over and I would be able to see her when shes there hopefully. I dont want her to be too stressed by the experience because shes happy as a single bunny but I dont want her to become lonely at any point so do want to try and bond her again. How can make the situation less stressful for her?

How would I rebond 3 female bunnies? They were all good in their cage from about 3 months old before they hit 6 months and they started hormonal fighting and being very territorial. They have been spayed for over 2 months now. Should I be doing the bonding process for each pair separately or can I do all 3 together at once? 2 of them are sisters and 1 not.
