It was nice seeing a guinea pig on the show! I have two so it’s nice seeing them recover after surgery. I am worried about one of my guinea pigs named Oreo because she has developed a small little bump on her side. It’s not big at all, but it’s hard. It’s been worrying me quite a bit and we plan on taking her to the vet soon, and I’m praying she will be ok. Nice to see another guinea pig recovering nicely :) . I’m hoping it doesn’t come to surgery but this gives me hope that she will be ok. She is a very healthy and pampered guinea pig, so crossing my fingers it’s nothing bad. 😬 Love your channel btw 🥰🥰

Loren Shearouse I agree too. While not a guinea pig I had a hamster the store gave me that had been abused (the store knew me well). She recovered well, but about 2 months later I noticed a lump on her shoulder. I took her to the vet, who informed me she had lumps all inside her body. I couldn’t believe it and told the vet it seemed the lumps appeared overnight. She said some rodents develop tumors very fast and they are usually cancerous. It turned out it was cancer, all inside, so they put her to sleep. Chill Oreo, please don’t wait. Get her to the vet ASAP. And like the other commentators I’d like to know how Oreo is doing. Pat

I'm bed-bound and disabled with 2 chronic pain diseases - but my spirits are always high because I'm SO lucky in so many other ways!! Now, because of this channel, I have the perfect response for when people ask how I'm doing (it's always hard to know how to respond "honestly" . . .). All I have to say is, "I'm not perfect but I can breathe . . ." to which my husband can add, "and that's all I want." while smiling. (He is the reason that my spirits are always high! 🥰 😍 )

Sorry to hear you have to deal with chronic pain! I was just wondering whether you've ever heard of the pain relief properties of Coconut oil and of MSM. Among other things, they have definite anti-inflammatory properties, & much more. I've seen them work with my cats & dogs over the years, & my family as well.

I often asking myself, how such men are feeling. They are behaving great. They fullfilling all the expections - or trying really really hard to do so. Where is the space just to be as a human with all your - you know not so cultivated spots. It must be increadible how much preassure of not to fail is laying on that shoulders every single day. You love your wife and children. You also love the work you doing. You will not mess up each of it. Maybe he is managing all this perfectly. Is just a thought.

Chris and Scott are such considerate men. I enjoy how they show so much affection and how they talk to their patients. Not only are they sensitive to the owners feelings, but it's wonderful to see how the patients respond to them. You can see the animals giving over to the vet, as their instincts trust the vets gentle manner, affection and they talk to them as they investigate their problem or pain. It's really brilliant. The animal knows they are going to be helped. Scott always talks to his patients post surgery, and he tells them how well they did in surgery and how much better they will enjoy life. Both men have a rich sense of humor, tactile, and so caring. Scott's face shows his feelings. Nice quality in a man. If more were encouraged to show their emotions, and cry when needed, we would have far less men dropping from heart attacks due to suppressing their feelings. Chris covers his feelings better, but he is a softie too. Both men are brilliant vets.

I found a bialy bird out walking that had blown out of it’s nest from a bad storm. I could hear his little squeaks and tracked him down with his messed up nest in between a light pole and a retaining wall. How he lived I have no idea. So I gathered what nest I could and used a shoe box as a makeshift nest. I kept him in the closet where it was cozy. I set my alarm for every 45 minutes to feed him with tweezers (around the clock; I didn’t get sleep). I had to use wet cat food. After two weeks I could feed him once every 1 or 2 hours (round the clock). Then his feathers started coming in so I moved him into the large whirlpool tub and used few branches to simulate nature. After a little while of hand feeding I started setting food around for him to hop over or fly a little to get....after he could do that and he was started to get food easier I started hiding it. I then used our freestanding towel rack to give some height... and I switched him to dried mealworms, dried fruit, a bit of live worms etc.... Then one day I came into the bathroom and he was flying at the window. So I took him in his nest box outside and he wasn’t comfortable yet. I tried again a week later and he flew away into the wild to join the birds that fly around (I live in the country). His name was Peanut. Rehabbing an animal is really hard work but the end result is an awesome feeling. (And FYI I beached the bathroom from wall to wall and shower to tub to sinks to any flat surface).

These vets are wonderful!!! I love how UK vets normally work on exotics. Here in the U.S. you have to see a specialist. A lot of the time they think you are crazy to come in with a chicken or a guinea pig! I actually had a vet ask me "Why are you bringing in a chicken? It is just a chicken!" So Sad! Kudos to the UK!

They did surgery to get them out and I got to take him home that same day. Sadly, he passed away the same night. @lukearts2954
@lukearts2954 3 жыл бұрын
@@juliestevens6931 it's very interesting, because I know that in the wild, they would make such sounds when they are among their kind, but when in danger or stress, aside from an alert signal, they would stay quiet (for obvious reasons). If they tend to talk more as you talk more to them, it may indicate that talking to them actually contributes to their mental welfare. Sounds logic, most will say, but this means that you have proof of animals appreciating and even needing interspecies relationships with humans. And on the other hand this would also imply that silent guinea pigs are likely to be rather unhappy... Enjoy your interactions! I'm always admiring people who manage to communicate actively with animals, and it also makes me happy that I'm not alone doing it... Some of my neighbors consider me a weirdo, because not only do I communicate with my dogs, but I have an active communication with a wren too... Never had any communications with rodents, though. ^^ Those sounds really are the cutest ever!

Handsome Guinea pig, Pepe, is very fortunate to have Luca and Trish as his human parents. They both are able to make the most authentic sounds to demonstrate Pepe's communication. They clearly love this little guy! What a darling family!!!

I hadn't either until my sister's Australian Shepherd developed laryngeal paralysis last year. She had the surgery and is so much better but sadly, she lost her ability to bark. It's sad for us but Piper doesn't seem to care. She's a happy, loving dog and will be 14 in a few months.

Jack's case hit a bit too close to home. I recently felt what I think is a lipoma on my dog's left side. It's still small and doesn't seem to bother her at all, but I'm afraid it might grow and need to be removed and seeing Jack suddenly not respond during that surgery didn't do my heart any good. Already have a vet appointment in a couple days.

Our family had two female guinea pigs,. One was adopted one year after the first guinea pig was given to my nephew as a very little one. The little adopted guinea pig had a tumor grow on her chest area. The small animal specialty veterinarians did surgery on her with anesthesia with a miniature E.T. tube and did a "mastectomy " on her to remove the tumor. They kept her for an entire day to monitor her recovery. She was sent home with antibiotics by eyedropper and pain medicine by eyedropper. We were careful about what vegetables we fed both of them,as well as their guinea food pellets, water with vitamin drops added, their salt lick, - and of course - plenty of Timothy Hay. I actually both them a huge metal hutch - which we all called their' Condominium.. Both of these guinea pigs lived for ten years, each.

Good information about guinea pigs and the dangers of calcium! Bell pepper is always safe to feed. Please never keep guinea pigs solo. They need at least one other guenea pig! Groups are better! when you transport them please make sure they have some hay, fresh veggies for water and of course air to breathe!
