Oh god, I’ll cry at the episode. My family were puppy raisers for four puppies. I cried after each went to be guide dogs. The last was the best cuddly bear of a black lab. We all got attached especially my dad who’s the least emotional.

Puppy raisers please please PLEASE know that we think you are true heroes. You make lives happen. You make it possible for people like me to stop sitting on the sidelines of the world in a place of frustration and wanting so desperately to live my own independent life, to living that life. Every guide dog handler knows the sacrifice you make is one we are incredibly aware of. We will never be able to find the words adequate enough to thank you for what you do for us. Thank you so so much. I honestly don’t know how to tell you how much what the beautiful black fuzzball, Georgie, who I’m currently snuggled up with right now, means to me because it’s so much more then just mobility. It’s love and acceptance and a bond that makes a soul deep connection that never breaks, no matter what. So if anybody who is watching this is a puppy raiser, thank you, thank you so very very much. Thank you for my life!

As someone who has given up one foster service dog once and will have to give up my current foster in September it is hard these dogs become part of your family and i know that they are going on to become the hero's for their future handler. Hopefully i will get a new pup soon after the hand over.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful stories about Guide Dogs and the wonderful help they give to people with vision impairment . From the time of conception all the way through to becoming a fully trained Guide dog, Therapy dog or a Companion dog what a wonderful series this has been so far and more to come. Thank you to everyone who take on the journey of becoming a puppy raiser these wonderful people play a huge part in the life of a Guide Dog I often wonder where we would be without them, so a HUGE thank you from the heart.

They cannot deny you a service dog due to the Americans with Disabilities act. This is a national law. The landlord cannot charge you for the animal either. Please check into your state's status on this issue.

As dogs go through our training program they are assessed for a variety of future careers, all that go on to make a difference in the lives of people in the community. They may take on roles such as Therapy Dogs, Ambassador Dogs, or be chosen to help bring the next generation of healthy Guide Dogs into the world as part of our breeding program. Some dogs do become much loved pets. Sometimes dogs do return to their Puppy Raiser homes, but where each dog is placed is determined on a case by case basis depending on what is best for their welfare.

Wow a whole year. I thought they only had to keep them for a few months. That has to be hard to let go, i foster dogs and the usual is a week or month but we did have one that was with us for a year. It was hard to let him go but we know he had a great life ahead of him.

I would love to be a raiser but I know it would break my heart to bond with a dog and then have to give it back so nope lol I have all the respect for the people that do this for these dogs and owners though, without you many peoples lives would be so hard

It's definitely not easy but it's so rewarding when you find out your pup has qualified! I recommend it. Also recommend fostering the dogs in training.

It makes me very angry that people now easily get dogs ES status when they really do not need them and now just take them in places they are not suppose to be when there are people out here that actually need ES dogs and can not take them into places because of selfish people
