Bondi Vet

Күн бұрын

In a very unusual case, a sheep is missing hooves and Chris fears for its wellbeing. He must think outside the box to find a solution. A puppy discarded in a cardboard box has been brought into SASH. Lisa fears the young pup might have the dreaded Parvo virus. Meanwhile, Tim is down at the Hunter Valley Zoo to help move seven alligators in to new enclosure. Stuck knee deep in mud, Tim discovers the enormity of this task.

It does make sense though. Sheep are herd animals. A sheep by itself in the wild is predator chow. Like cattle. They don't like to be the first down a chute, but will gladly follow the cow in front of them.

Yes! I'm over here shouting, "prosthetics "!!!! We have so many options to help animals. Often, reaching out for help means things are hand made for the needs of an animal. I'm so happy Chris knew about this! Always ask!!!! Don't give up! You'd be amazed with the things people will do to help animals. (USA)

I personally would have said to try out securing some small toddler shoes being as it is similar to the option of prosthetics......

Just wanted to add that all we can do is give every living creature the chance to thrive. Sometimes we are successful. Sometimes we are not. Prosthetics need fitted, readjusted over time; sometimes reconfigured-even for people. Bodies change. There isn't a fixed science for any of this for any living creature or being. Its trial and error. There are people so willing to help too! I've seen where even college kids or engineers will make prosthetics or wheel carts....for free if you can only pay for the supplies. Just keep doing your best. Ask. Reach out. Research. I find all of this so exciting, especially when I see how happy the creatures are! I apologize that my comments to Tim came across in a way I did not intend. I think Tim is pure at heart. I think he's fabulous! I meant only to ask him to not let himself get lost if the show were to ever lose it's way trying to get higher ratings/views. I was looking way down the road comparing to shows that have come and gone. I hope all of you who have read my comments understand me as I would like to be. I'm not the best with words, grammar, and mechanics. I PROMISE I'm a VERY loving and supportive person. I am not aware of criticizing. But, see how my first comment to Tim sounded as if I was. I guess I am just not so good with words. Please forgive me. Blessed new year 2020 all!

I understand what Charity is going through. I was born with a left foot deformity called Equines Farris Contracture (Horse Hoof Syndrome) where the tendons in my foot were so badly contracted that my whole foot curled. I had to wear a brace up until the age I was 12 until I had corrective surgery. I remember so many times as I got older having to get leg braces because I kept breaking them as I got stronger. I've been through quite a few castings myself. Charity is such a trooper. Good girl! Looking stylish with those boots!

I don't understand what you're talking about, can you please explain?
@prcervi
@prcervi 4 жыл бұрын
@@tootz1950 flystrike is an issue where animal(here sheep) feces get caught in the hair/wool by the animal's rectum, flies lay their eggs in the feces, maggots grow and then proceed to basically eat the unfortunate animal from the inside out. This is a miserable and generally fatal condition, sheep normally get their (fluffy woolly) tails docked so this has a much lower chance of happening. Precaution if you choose to google it, there may pop up photos of the effects(it's super gross...).

@@prcervi I was wondering why their tails were so long! Didn't know that's their natural length. Very cute looking, so I'm sorry to hear it can cause problems.

I’m watching this episode on my brand new phone to wall projector. While we wait for the new family puppy to get here to suprise the kids (it’s only timing that the puppy can come home on Christmas, and its only a surprise for the kids because we didn’t want to tell the kids until it’s home just in case it falls though. She is a FAMILY pet after all)

I find it incredibly ironic that I see more of alligators on an Australian Vet Show than I do my local Animal Planet Zoo Shows! Next instead of Salt Water Crocodiles I'll be seeing the American Crocodiles on this show. Also really awesome with the prosthetics!

Parvo virus isn't necessarily a dearth sentence. I had a puppy that had parvo, and it was treatable. The treatment was around $1,000 US but it was treatable and she pulled through fine.

I'd say your puppy was very lucky there, even with treatment parvo has a good chance of being fatal
@Silentgrace11
@Silentgrace11 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed with Micky here - parvo can be difficult to treat and has a fairly high mortality rate, in part because it may not be caught in time for treatment to be effective. It’s also more likely to kill younger puppies, and this little bean in the video was 6-8 weeks. I’ve had pets survive it just fine, and pets die from it; unfortunately it’s not straightforward. On top of that, what you stated right there is likely the reason why they couldn’t follow through with treatment - it’s expensive. It’s a high expense that I have no doubt the entire veterinary team would like to use for the poor thing, but as young as the pup was, and how clearly they didn’t have an existing home as they were dumped in a box, it was not something they could afford as a clinic just for the pup to end up in the pound. I hate to say it, but had that been the case, putting the pup down would have been the most logical decision.

I am a farmer. If either PETA or the RSPCA saw this sheep on my farm they would put me out of business for both neglect and causing pain and cruelty. FYI Dorpers have many genetic problems and I have seen about ten lambs born without hooves.

PETA is a Death Cult. The founder (her name eludes me at the moment) wrote an autobiography, and many of the statements she makes in the book are disturbing. I genuinely believe that she is a Narcissistic Sociopath. In almost every chapter of the book, she alludes to her desire to completely eliminate all domestic animals and (eventually) the complete, planned extinction of the human race. FURTHERMORE, unknown by most people, she provided real and fiscal support to domestic terrorists responsible for multiple bombings here in the United States. She is a frightening individual.
