@SaraNightfire14 жыл бұрын
My cat first went to a veterinary hospital nearby, I flat out refused to use the one in town as I used to work for them and it left a bad taste in my mouth with how they had dollar signs in their eyes. Especially after they left my brother's dog in a kennel for a month when they couldn't do anything for him when his leg was shattered, and they refused to let him go. The nearby vet tried to pressure me into declawing him. I kept on refusing as I saw the results at the vet I worked at, he even convinced my mom at one point declawing was the way to go. She finally gave in with my insistence on him not being declawed. After we refused, he started charging us double for simple check-ups, note: My cat had an emergency vet visit with a different vet who gave us a phone number and everything that charged us as much as a check-up at the same hospital. He also started treating him like a piece of meat on a butcher block so often we called him the "Butcher". For a while, we went to the vet who handled him during the emergency, but I got a new job where our hours would no longer work for his times. We went to a very busy clinic closer to my job to take him but used the vet techs at the old one for simple things (i.e: Removing mats, trimming nails, etc) things that a vet tech could do, but our cat wouldn't let us do. The new vet at one point couldn't take our cat during the week which they were very booked to get some mats removed. I called the old vet and made arrangements for my mom to drop him off while I went to work for the vet techs to take care of him, I didn't think it was a big deal. My mom got there and found the "Butcher" (old vet who was trying to get us to declaw and treated my cat roughly before we went to a different vet) standing behind the counter with the vet techs. My mom handed him over to the vet techs and they went into the back, the "Butcher" followed. My cat started howling, loud screaming, ear-piercing noises 30 seconds later. My mom could hear it all the way up front, and he NEVER cried before at the vet, he's one of the best cats they have worked with. He howled nonstop during the whole visit, cried all the way home, and was freaking out when I got home. I almost called the vet and ripped him to shreds, I was so pissed at them, and they charged us DOUBLE the amount it usually costs. I also ripped my mom to shreds for standing there because she had no idea what to do. I would've gone into the back room and took my cat back, scene be damned. A few days later, I found blood on my cat's comb when I was brushing him. (He just hates his stomach being brushed, the rest he's okay with.) And found blood matting his forehead, the only part that is thin fur on his coat and shouldn't even be brushed. I rushed him to the vet to hear that his head was cut open and had been for at least a few days. He was fine, thank god, but the vet said head injuries like that for an inside cat are rare. I hit the roof, especially since the "Butcher" never mentioned that he had a cut. I have never gone there again, and they are calling me about visits. If a vet is treating your cat roughly, even if they act aggressively, (mine never was), then find another vet immediately. There could be more going on than you realize behind the scenes.

Try ear issues in a cockapoo. Big heavy cocker ears combined with the poodle hair growing in the ear channel that needs plucked. Definitely, a recipe for sore stinky ears. I sometimes used swimmer ear solution in my dog. Swimmer ears solution is alcohol, vinegar and peroxide, we'd drop in our ears after swim practice. It was drying and changed the ph to kill bacteria. It seemed to work. My dog didn't have the chronic infection though but he sure hated getting his ears plucked.

I have an alpaca that had both bacterial and fungal infections in one ear. Fungal are the hardest, since antibiotics don't work on them. Cleaned and fought it for 2 years and finally had the TECA operation on her. Total Ear Canal Ablation. Extremely tricky on alpacas. She had some paralysis on that side, and couldn't blink. We had to sew her eyelid mostly closed to keep it moist till the nerves healed. And put a cover over her eye to protect it.

I don't think it's the vet's fault, necessarily. Removing the ear canal is a big step, and you wanna be sure that's the only option before doing it. Maybe that vet didn't have the training to perform a surgery like that. Idk maybe you're right and the vet should have taken different action, but maybe the vet referred them to this surgeon in the first place. Who knows.

Not a cat person but I can't imagine how cruel someone has to be to abandon kittens or any pet by the side of a road.
@marthahawkinson-michau96114 жыл бұрын
Also, frequently it’s not humans abandoning baby kittens, but their own mum that can’t take care of them on her own. It’s hard enough for the mother cat to survive sometimes, and often enough she just can’t keep up with her kittens.

@@marthahawkinson-michau9611 What a capable mother kitten that was then, putting her kittens in a box, and carying them to the side of a road. It was blatantly obvious that a disgrace of a human-beings specie creatue abondoned them.

(7:58) The way Pluto looked up at his owner and Dr. CB like “What is this? What are you doing? No. Put that thing away. You’re putting me on the spot.” when Doc whipped out the harmonica expecting Pluto to sing…. Hilarious & Adorable

I love this show so much! I I'm going to go to school to become a vet when I'm older. I wish that I at least had a cat however most of the people in my house are allergic ☹️

@@yusukekitagawa2834 May I ask, what do you do about the allergies?
@yusukekitagawa28344 жыл бұрын
@@cindyaraya7317 we just buy a bunch of allergy pills, but that's for when we have kittens and they live in the house. As they get older though we put them outside to relieve everyone of the allergies and we still get to keep them.
@Mrs.Fezziwig Жыл бұрын
@@cindyaraya7317 I am severely allergic to cats; they set off my asthma but I have two. My ex would comb them daily and use special food because it's the dander, the dandruff stuff all cats produce from lick-bathing that causes the allergy. At first I didn't let them in the bedroom at all and if for whatever reason I felt the symptoms coming on I would take a Benadryl. One is 17 and the other is 16 and over the years I lost most of my reaction to them. I cuddle with them in my lap but rubbing on my face still sets me off and they've learned bed privileges are revoked if they do it. There are work arounds but ultimately it was because we are the ones paying rent & bills so we had the freedom to choose. If it's not your house it's kind of impossible to get everyone on board considering the fact there are allergies to factor in.
