This video is part two of My uncle Bob's pole barn with trench drain. In part one I showed you how to set the drain. Now in part two I will show you how to pour the concrete at a pitch to the drain so everything flows to the drain. Funny thing happened and a dog runs through the concrete during the pour.

I was reminded of the time we brought a truck in under low wires.. he fit until the truck was unloaded then got the wires after unloading. Pays to watch.

Poured my floor in my 30x40 at 7" in the flat and 10" around edges at 330 pm. 45 ° overnight we didn't walk away till 545 am. Around midnight we hung 3 torpedo heaters from the trusses and stapled some tarps up. Maintained 80° for 3 days ! Done didder. I also didn't want it slippery when wet otherwise we'd be there till 10 am ! Good vid guys...good vids. East central MN here btw

Great videos. Love to watch you guy's work. Wish you were in Wyoming. I have a 30 × 40 shop to put up, and I need a slab. The Frost line is like 5 ft deep. I see a lot of broken garage floors from the heaves. I could sure use your expertise.

It's the worst when the mud is slow and your by yourself. It is always difficult to give it time to set. We would always add another 1/2 percent to our late load to have it catch up to the earlier load. I had many a nights finishing until 11:00 or 12:00 at night. Turned out nice. Keep it up.

Thanks Steve. I can't leave until it's what I want for a finish. One time I stayed all night finishing a slab. Slept in between hits. That's what we do bud. 👍

I’m so impressed by some people’s ability to change with situations. Kinda sucks that it went that way. Yet the job was still done. Work is work, not fun time at the zoo. You have to bend at times. Those that don’t are just angry people, not good to be around. Then it becomes a harder working job, everyone is more tired at the end of the day. Nice job.

This is why I don't do concrete work. When I was in my 20's, I worked on several large structural concrete jobs in DC back in the early 70's. We'd pour all day and all night, then finish. 90 trucks on some decks. We'd pour summer, winter, spring and fall. We had to work in shifts to work and or insulate and heat on occasion. I swore off that type work and never looked back.

Learning a lot from your videos. Needing to pour a small slab or gravel pad soon, so trying to learn as much as possible. Unfortunately when my father, a road engineer, and grandfather, a master mason of the old school, were still here I didn't know enough to learn more. I think you'd be inpressed with my grandfather's house, an homage to brick, concrete, and cruhsed red stone planter beds, with the concrete encapsulating the house. Have you considered putting some wheels on your awesome chute? Large ones that won't be a problem with the mesh or sub rock, with locks on one side to keep it where you need it. Thanks from downstate Long Island.

About to do a 45 x 45 x 6" pour and I have 2 dogs. They will be in the house!! I've done concrete before, when I was younger, never finished, mainly puddling and screeting. I guess some but this is a big undertaking for me. Making a shoot like you did. Prob putting retarder in it as idk how long it takes me to finish it. Have 6 ppl to help get it out of the trucks and down. Have a power screet and trowel. Be about 35 yards. Yes, I'm nervous!! But hey, I can do it! Thanks for the vids, tips and advice!!

Frost protection shallow foundation, know anything about it? So, pole barn is 90x45, I'm splitting it up for a shop in 1 side. How or what's needed for foam protection where slab edge is inside building? I'm going 24" vertically on the 3 walls, but not sure what's required for inside area. Shop is heated, other side of wall is cold storage. Still go 24" vertical? Am laying 2" r10 on entire floor I think. Been kicking the idea of just 8' perimeter.. #4 bar 24 on center. 12" x12" trough around perimeter. 6mm poly. Any tips? Oh, in mn west of cities.

I guess I'm one of these guys... I'm not a concrete installer but I am wondering, how do you know where that metal is when you pull it up? I think the "book" says somewhere around 2" below the surface. Do you find that doesn't matter? Maybe it doesn't matter so much when it's a 4" slab? Ohh Shar Pei. Great dogs. Had many.
