The self discipline of parents/the adults is key in ensuring peace in the home, and that is where we do need to ask our good Father for help. Thank you for this. I didn't grow up in a Christian home, but it was indeed orderly and peaceful to the degree a secular home can be. The Christian part I got from a neighbor who looked after me when my parents went to work. I agree, the position of a mother is holy, and maybe that's why it is under attack. Today, being a mom is extremely hard. The school is teaching dangerous doctrines, children learn from their devices and peers, many are diagnosed with various disorders and disobedient, there is an increasing, uninvited governmental involvement in family life, and godly parenting is quite rare, even looked down upon, as parental authority is regarded as abusive.

This video is very close to my aspirations while raising my daughter during marriage and after divorce. For young parents raising raising little children nowadays, this is wisdom. I had been trained by my mother. Being her oldest daughter, I was up at 5:30. In my on child rearing, I was up at 6:00. Maintaining a clean household has never been a problem for me. Many young mothers are on task daily. Having learned within family, or taking the advice of other more experienced parents, such as we have from this inspiring Mother and grandmother, Mrs. Elliot.

So happy this came up in my recommendations. I've listened to Elisabeth Elliot on the radio as a young mother, but have never seen her. I was so sad that she had to retire from the radio. I don't think we agree on church doctrine, but home subjects, she has taught me so much good. Thanks for posting this -- five years ago.

This is a lovely video and Mrs Elliot is a wonderful blessing to us all. My only caveat here would be, as the mother of two autistic children, that many of these parenting points will need some adjustment if you have a child with special needs. But the basic principles are wonderful. thank you for sharing.
@ashlystaggs48439 жыл бұрын
My sister in Christ has special needs children as well and they respond very well to these Christian disciplinary values! Want to encourage you in that!
@nicolemarsh-mueller5119 жыл бұрын
+Ashly Staggs Yes, Ashley- the principles are good, but some of the specifics are not. She criticises counting to three, for instance, and while I agree with her for typical children, my autistic children NEED a count to three in order to process both my command and what I say the punishment is going to be if they dont stop. They have a harder time both processing language and controlling their emotions, and so counting to three has been a God-send for me especially during melt- downs. I rarely get past two, they obey more and more quickly, but they need both the extra time and the familiarity of the count down to ground them. And I believe she talked about sitting still at church and mealtime, and that is absolutely out of the question for a child with severe sensory processing disorder. But still- the principles apply but as with all things we have to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in the particulars of how we guide our children.

My niece is 4 years old and so incredibly spoiled. It isn't realistic for a 4 year old to always be mature, however my children were well behaved at that age and here is why- Parenting. My sister doesn't do it. She sits them in front of a screen and goes to work (which is virtual for now). She thinks she's a great parent because she buys them things. I noticed that children with the most amazing toys are missing out on LOVE & DICIPLINE. I reminds me of Mary and Colin in The Secret Garden. They had everything except love and discipline yet Martha's mother was so intriguing to them. How can a poor family be so happy? A mother who disciplines and loves her her children, and most importantly is available to her children makes a happy home. Women have left the home for corporate world. This is the problem.
