Store-bought is so expensive. Save some bucks by freezing your leftover chicken/pork/beef/fish bones, then eventually crush 'em up real good. Voila! homemade bone meal. Nice little weekend project, and not all that time consuming, really.

@@lyubafranco so your saying, I have to reapply bone meal every other week or every two weeks? Thought since bone and blood meal are slow releasers. They'll last for a month or maybe two months. Til I side dress again. So which is it?

Hello and thank you for watching my video. Im pleased to hear that you have enjoyed the content! Bone Meal is a natural source of Calcium and Phosphorus. What it does is helps promote stronger root system as well and increase bloom/fruit yield. Is there anything growing in the soil around your boxes? Typically its massaged/worked into the soil around the plants root ball/root system. But, no there is no downside to add it to any soil. Be well and Happy Gardening!!!

Hello and thank you for watching my video. Bone Meal and Fish Bone Meal are very similar in NPK ratio ( 3-15-0/3-16-0). Bone Meal does tend to last a bit longer in the soil. I do use Fish emulsion fertilizer when I feel that my plants need an urgent nutrition boost as it s water soluble and reaches the root system much quicker vs granular fertilizers.
