Fun fact: One of the developers for Boneworks said in an interview that they were hoping that the game would feel outdated in the next few years. In the first level of boneworks, I jammed open the door between the gun range and the previous room where the save pool tube thing is. I then went into the gun range, took a big blue garbage can, and filled it with 1 of every gun and weapon. I then pulled that barrel full of weapons through the propped open door and emptied them into the save pool. Felt like a genius for exploiting the physics system to get lots of guns saved right away.

I got a REALLY incredible experience with this game but ONE SINGLE MOMENT really got me good : I remember I wanted to unlock lots of hidden stuff in the game and played trough the lil first sandbox level (got kinda far in the level and etc) but then I noticed some boxes on the wall and destroyed them to see if there was a key I was looking for , then I noticed a dent on the wall . I peeked trough it and I saw the same arena on the other side of the wall but just to see another npc of myself experimenting with the weapons and environement . I was already mesmerised enough , but I kept looking at it for a good minute , then the npc on the other side just disappears for a few seconds .... and then it hit me . I played many horror games in my life and this probably was the most frightened I was playing a game . My head started feeling completely shutted down .... by just the thought of turning around and seeing him right behind me . Just the incredible dread of feeling a presence behind you , feeling another presence in your viscinity without really knowing . This wouldve been a scary moment in any game but in vr ? this was absolutely terrifying . I then turned around and he wasn't . Just the thought of it was enough to make me petrified . Vr is amazing

You can throw your weapon in the air and try to inject the magazine while it is still spinning. Its ridiculously difficult to do and it will take a couple of attempts but i assure you it is possible. I tried it with a submachine gun. Just know that when you hit the right spot, the magazine will leave your hand and attach to the weapon so you have to be quick enough to either "force pull" the gun or grab it mid air. Something about the character being controlled via VR rather than typical ragdoll animation just made it super funny to me

Having played both Alyx and this game, I really think that Boneworks does a better job at recreating the sandbox feeling of Half Life better than Alyx did. Throughout Alyx I felt really restricted through it all (I still enjoyed it immensely just not in the same way I enjoyed Half Life 2). Having gone through the entirety of Boneworks multiple times I really just gravitate more towards the crazy things you can do within it rather than the very linear experience that Alyx posed. I'm really happy to see Boneworks getting more attention because, as I've seen others in the comment section state already, it got heavily overshadowed by Alyx and, at the time, even I was incredibly hyped for that game and felt I was just playing Boneworks through again to ease that hype some. Then when I finally got into Alyx after the first couple hours I found myself wanting to go back to Boneworks so I could bop cyber people on the head with a box and then full on climb the side of some random building with nothing important at the top. Now after having so much time to process it all, I just hope that we get some more great sandbox VR games in the near future. Man I never comment on things and it felt like I just wrote a book so sorry about that lmao.

Alyx isn't trying to be boneworks it's trying to be and immersive action packed vr games, The gunplay in Alyx is generally better cause of the improved ai and realism.

@labrat54573 жыл бұрын
@@badqualityfrog9367 Fair point, I simply just went into Alyx originally expecting it to be more akin to Half Life gameplay rather than a very story driven, linear experience that we got. I can agree though the ai in alyx is vastly superior. However at times I do wish that in Alyx your character had an actual body. Having just hands takes away from the immersion IMO. Tho I’m sure it would’ve added unnecessary janky-ness to the game. Also just to clarify I still loved Alyx and I thoroughly believe it’s a great game I just had differing expectations to what it would be in the end.

@@labrat5457 Honestly in some detailed aspects I believe HL:A does it better but it's the same with Boneworks having some better details. It honestly comes to personal preference and although only having hands is a big issue I'd still pick Alyx over Boneworks, but as said that's all just my opinion not a fact (Another thing including when it comes to personal preference is I personally picked it bc I didn't want to be in a sandbox when compared to being able to feel as Alyx when playing through Half life).

I'm sure no one actually cares, but comments are good for the algorithm, and I'm into linguistics, so I'll give it a shot! Possessives for words ending with "s:" Written: Always place an "apostrophe s" or ('s) after a word if it is possessive, regardless of whether the word ended in "s" beforehand. Example: Boneworks's mechanics. (Edit to specify that this is for singular nouns. If there were mechanics belonging to many Boneworks, then you would write "Boneworks' mechanics," without the extra "s") Spoken: Speak the word as though the apostrophe was not there. Meaning: "Boneworks's" sounds like "Boneworkss" (equivalent to "Boneworks"). You don't pronounce the apostrophe as in "Boneworkses" All of this being said, almost no one speaks this way in real life, so the "proper" pronunciation seems kind of frivolous, if I'm honest.

The Issue I have with Learning Proper Grammar Is I don't know what all these Terms even mean.. Like What is a Noun? What does It mean When something is "possessive" Etc. My Fucked Up child Hood Had my miss the majority of school, So i learned How To Write Sort of backwards in a way. Spent the lest 10 Years Teaching Myself Via Examples and Mimicry. Could I have put in the academic work to learn proper Grammar, Sure, But I Did Not see it to be worth my time and i still stand By that. However If you would like to point out all of my Grammatical errors, To both bring me some enlightenment and help the algorithm for this video, By all means. One thing to note however, Is I Understand that I Capitalize alot of Letters that do not need to be.. I Don't know why i do this, It's probably just a type of tick.
@VirusMakerv23 жыл бұрын
@@ViolenVaymire Hey there! So I'm not the type of person to point out when an individual person's grammar is slightly off. I just made my comment because there was a section of the video where he was asking how something worked grammatically and I enjoy talking about this stuff, but you don't have to put yourself down if you don't know exactly how something works. Especially considering you said that school was a struggle for you. The most important thing with grammar is that people understand what you're saying when you speak or type, and I can understand you just fine, so I think you're doing pretty well. The only real exception I can think of is if you are doing something really professional, like a job application. Then you'd probably want to have as good of grammar as possible. So yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You seem like a genuinely curious person so I will answer your questions as best as I can. A noun is defined as, "a person, place, thing, or idea." Generally, if you can replace a word in a sentence with "he," "she," or "it," then that is probably a noun. [Tyler wrote a comment.] You could also say [He wrote it.] In this case, "Tyler" and "comment" are nouns. Possessive nouns are generally things that own (or possess) other things. [Alleluja's comment.] In this case, "Alleluja's" is the possessive noun. You made that comment, it's yours, it "belongs" to you. I can't teach every rule of grammar in a single KZbin comment, but you really do not need to know most of this stuff. I only know it because I find it interesting. So if it doesn't interest you and people can understand what you mean when you talk to them, then that's fine. The best advice I have is to look things up if you are unsure about a certain grammatical rule. I hope you have a lovely night!

@@VirusMakerv2 Thank you! I Love hearing and reading what other people have to say, and you struck my fancy. I appreciate you indulging me. Just one thing I would like to clarify. If you want to Listen to this random person ramble for a 2nd: The rare time's I had any schooling, I was very quick at it.. However, I Have, And still hold a burning Distain for academic's. I've seen The ugliest side of life from as far back as i can remember, And Grade school Does nothing to help you against it. I see Schools turn out so many helpless people. This is extremely true. Everything feels so raw in VR when you play for the first time. I found myself getting terrified in Boneworks. As if it was a horror game, which sounds extremely stupid on a flat screen but Boneworks has the right level of eerie isolation, jankily animated enemies and creepy 3 levels deep lore hints scribbled everywhere that make absolutely no sense until you commit yourself to a 7 hour theory video. (Or just so happen to get the references like the little scp icons dotting the maps). Even after I played through the entire game and knew the mechanics in and out I found myself anxious about what surprise shit they would throw at me tucked away in their secret sandbox levels. I am glad I ignored the (for advanced vr players) warning and had this game be one of my first VR experiences, it's one of my favorites.
