He did the strokes while the vocal flow, can you imagine about his idea?

A benchmark video that I will go to for inspiration for my drumming. Great examples of flawless technique, fluidity and execution. Did I say fluidity? Wow. I've been playing for a couple of years and am starting to get my way around the kit pretty well for a beginner. I've been told I am a natural, but that only gets you so far. It takes a lot of practice just to be a mediocre drummer, but I get better and better. Another five years or so of playing everyday, as I do, I might get good. I never picked up drumsticks until I was 50. Maybe before I am dead I could play like this. May not happen but it's something to shoot for. I enjoy my drumming for better or worse. It's a part of me now.

That is awesome brother. I've been playing drums since I was a junior in high school n I'm 51 today. compared to these kids today and all the things like this great video they have to their advantage that is even considered a late start. Because I didn't have a drum set n the cash to buy one for practice I really didn't know what a triplet was or how to do it correctly until just this year n I'm still working hard to get it down tight because of all those years playing in bands n faking things like that and because I was a natural like you I had ways of rolls sound like triplets or whatever lol.My senior year I joined jazz band n there were 3 other experienced drummers in the class who had been playing since grade or middle school n they were all seniors too. Boy was I nervous one of them was a butt head towards me n would laugh at me if I messed up wich didn't help my nerves but our teacher who is still teaching there today,, the first time I ever sat behind a kit n tried to play a beat told me I was a natural. Long story short, the butthead n the others were doing all the songs at the beginning of the year and by the end of the year I was doing most them as the first drummer lol. I was 17 years old n the following summer I played my first professional bar gig with a older very good n well known band around here . I took about 8n a half years off n the whole time I was depressed n just felt like something was missing in my life. Thanks to my cousin who helped me threw my depressed days I'm playing again. He said ""dude you are one of the best drummers around this area your missing your music, your passion , the thing that makes u happy lol!"" So i just started playing gigs again last year n I'm playing better than I ever have n doing things on the drums I never thought I could do. Drumming is good for the heart, soul, stress and clarity of mind!! So keep it up n never lose what makes you you. Have a great day and God bless

Take it from someone like me. If you put your mind to it and want to do it bad enough, you'll find a way. I never thought it could be possible, but I CAN, after all these years. It comes to a point for some of us, where, you just think it, then play it. But first, there will be a lot of practice. Lots of blood, sweat and tears. As well as sacrifices.

Nicely played. Every drummer knows Bonham inside out but not many know Ian Paice as well but they really should as he is phenomenal and great doubles. I remember learning Fireball and for years thinking that was in the bag and then I watched a teacher on here and found out Paice plays 3 notes on the cymbal and not quarters. That is the amazing thing about Bonham and Paice you can always learn something new no matter how well you think you know the songs.
@misfit20228 жыл бұрын
+JohnQpublic I would not disagree with that at all. Ian Paice uses a lot more rudiments. He is an old man now but I saw him at a drum clinic a few years ago and he can still play a single stroke roll with one hand quicker than I can play with two. Definitely a great drummer. For listening to rudiments I also like Carl Palmer.
@misfit20228 жыл бұрын
+JohnQpublic I completely agree though he played at speed in different time signatures 5/4 6/8 etc so I will forgive him but his timing being raised as an issue is something I have noticed myself but I had some drum teachers when younger who refused to use him as a teaching aid as they thought his timekeeping suspect. I agree this is true for ELP but his work with Asia is much better with regards to timekeeping.
@misfit20228 жыл бұрын

+Patrick Wagener Bonham had a lotta swing in his playing as did the admired rock drummers who applied it as well. The swing is what gives rock drumming that "edge" imo.

+GrooveDrummin I have to agree with you. a lot of metal drummers sound like robots. it has to have the feel. not drum machines. thanks again
