I have never made molasses bread. My bread maker is always in use in the cold weather. I firmly believe this will be made over the holidays. Perfect. Thank you Bonita. I have never lifted the lid of my bread maker to add flour. What a great teacher you are. Thank you again for the tremendous effort each of you give to the weekly videos. Have a great week, be safe, healthy and stay warm.

You are very welcome Heather. When you get those bread makers they only give you the basic to use it. But yes you can always left the lid to see if the texture of your dough is what you want. Then add whatever raisin or even dried cranberries to the dough. I love this bread and a simple one loaf of this bread sometimes is all you need. Enjoy and please follow up if you make it sometime. :) Bonita

Dear Bonita and Raymond, I have always made bread manually; never did I see such a perfect sized loaf of bread as your recipe. It makes me wonder about buying a bread maker, but I know I won't because I would miss out on making it with my hands. I cannot get over the size and perfection of that bread from a machine. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and the technique to make a bread from a machine; I am impressed! Love, Bonnie and David

Hi Bonnie and David, Thank you for stopping by today and enjoying our tutorial today. We got this bread maker a few years ago to do a review for this company. But Raymond just loved it because he loves bread and all types. I showed him how to use it and he makes his own one loaf of bread. But this recipe can be done by hand and following the full recipe with proofing the yeast in warm water first. I still love making my bread by hand but with our cooking show and making many recipes everyday for our shows it's hard to make bread all the time. Bless you both for enjoying our new recipe today. Have a lovely day as well!! :) Bonita

The best thing about a bread machine is convenience. The best thing about making bread by hand is control.

That looks so easy and convenient. Most times this will be enough since fresh bread is the best. Honest you have no idea how much I wish for a slab of that loaf. Enjoy Bonita & Raymond. Merry Christmas to you both

Howdy from Texas. My breadmaker is over 25 years old. Back then, the loaf pan was tall and rectangular, resulting in a very small cooked top with mostly sides. I usually put it on dough cycle and then cook the dough in regular loaf pans in the oven...maybe it is time for a new breadmaker.

Howdy from Newfoundland, Thank you for stopping by and for leaving a message. You can make this recipe by hand or standup mixer if you wish to bake it in the oven. It is indeed a lovely loaf of bread. Enjoy Bonita

Hi Bonita, this looks great! Did you use the regular white bread program on your bread maker, or did you use a different program?

i am almost 70 love this channel from hamilton but as a youngster in the 60s spent my summer months with my seven siblings on a farm on prince edward island near point prim, outhouse chicken house cow pasture running water outside via pump house heated with three woodstoves and one cooking woodstoves my grandmother would make a delicious bread she called pumpernickel but as i grew up that was a nickname i found a bakery that sold it as maritime brown bread I am wondering if this is it minus the raisins
