Steve if you Don't mind me horning in these sampled pianos are made to be played in stereo with left and right channels both sounding. Part of the sound and effects are missing in mono. I play the Alto speakers also, but two of them. You would need a small mixer. Yamaha makes one for less that $150.00. Once you set up like this you will love it and NEVER go back to mono. It's like comparing an a.m. radio to a pristine high definition sound system. I hope you find this helpful.

Very good performance and introduction Tony ! I like it that you take your time for the sounds - you are LISTENING to the sounds. That´s exactly what I am missing at so many musicians. I am playing the Yamaha CP- 33, whichs sound really great, but I´m thinking to update with the CP-88. Cause this is a really new generation with so many features. What I don´t understand is why Yamaha didn´t integrate a simple Metronom. Greets from Germany Keyboarder ;)

Very nice. However, on the RD-2000 up to 8 piano or other sounds can be layered, i.e. there are 8 sections instead of 3.
@pmcate25 жыл бұрын
I used to take the layers into account when looking for a piano, but then I thought, is there really a situation where I would need more than two layers? Maybe 3 occasionally. Once you get higher than that it’s really a gimmick.
@RayyMusik5 жыл бұрын
pmac Depends on if you play in a band or solo like me. E.g,, I like to duplicate pads (far left + far right) for maximum stereo effect. And it‘s not only about layers but also splits. I have a program with 2 basses, 2 pads in the middle and a lead sound in the higher octaves.

For us amateur gigging covers band musos, they’d be onto a winner if only they’d add some decent brass samples. Is this likely? A good start would be too add those found on the cp50 or motif ex.

Could someone suggest a Better Sounding Speaker system to use with the Yamaha CP88 as i currently use Yamaha HS8 Speakers with my Yamaha CP4 i just play at Home.
@bonnersmusic5 жыл бұрын
I would suggest trying the new CP88 through your Yamaha HS8 monitors first. The new sounds on the CP88 are fantastic and should sound even better through the HS8s. You may find that you get a better spread of sound by adding the Yamaha HS Subwoofer to the configuration.

Tony,Is the cfx sound in this different and better or worse than p515?
@bonnersmusic5 жыл бұрын
Same raw sample, but the effects are more powerful, as is the EQ. The audio outputs are of higher quality than those on the P515 and I suspect the D/A convertors are also better, so the sound through an external amplification system is stronger.
@JitinMisra5 жыл бұрын
That is interesting, it sounds better than p515 , like more cut through for cfx and more ringing, but on paper p515 has better specs like virtual resonance/ aliquot resonance and body resonance
@pawelsz955 жыл бұрын
Increase the "Brightness" parameter in P-515 and it will sound very similar to CP73/88 or Montage. The "Brightness" is just a "cutoff" parameter I think and "Harmonic Cont" is the "resonance" parameter.
@JitinMisra5 жыл бұрын
@@kunleodebode i can't imagine though yamaha would use a worse sample in a clp or p series piano, than compared to cp88 /cp series piano. I will agree that cp series may have better outputs which Tony mentioned earlier, hence record differently or sound different in a live situation, but clp and flag ship p series piano is a higher end piano

Stage pianos should never have big LCD screens. They make the instrument look more like a toy and you do not want to rely on a touch screen when you are changing voices at a live performance. Just look at the Nord which up until the CP88 was considered the best stage piano and you don't see any fancy screens on that. If you want a big LCD screen display, get a Kronos workstation.
