So funny that you said I need to relax, I don't really need to be that close to my stitching! I was just thinking right before you said that, that you would be sore if you didn't back off a little bit! I did get some of the rulers you are using! Love them. I agree with the ones who said to be happy with the work in the roses. It is very sweet and I would love it if I could do that myself! You are awesome and such a wonderful teacher.

I am totally addicted to your videos. Recently bought the RED SNAPPERS system (on your suggestion) and loving how quickly I can now load my Quilts. Also found the MAGNETIC BARS at Harbor Freight for only $1.99 each for 18 inch bars. These work great for me too. I am a recent Breast Cancer Survivor & truly appreciate all your tips in helping me get back into machine Quilting.

Hi Susan, I totally enjoy watching over your shoulder while you work and to listen to your dialog. You've answered so many questions I had in my head as I try to design and stitch my quilts. Does anyone else sweat buckets while long arm quilting? Must be my anxiety :):):)

I don't sweat buckets, but yesterday I was working on something outside my comfort zone (kind of a mash-up of designs) and I was sucking back coffee 🤣

Much appreciated. 🌺

I also like the Quilters Apothecary rulers. Jamie is a talented guy with some great videos as well. Thank you for your informative videos. I don’t think there’s anyone out there showing the process from start to finish like you do. It’s so important to know all the details! I haven’t managed to catch you live, but I always catch them later on KZbin.

I'm so happy to hear my videos are helpful! I tried to create what I wish I'd had as a newbie - there are so many questions you don't even know to ask until you get in the middle of a project, so this seems like a great way to work through them.

Oh Susan…I would definitely call what you are doing here ARTISTRY! Just after an hour you made a comment about that. Thank you for the whole cloth videos. I have 2 baby quilts planned using this idea. I want to practice a Baptist Fan on one and Orange Peel on the other. Considered doing a wide area in the middle of Orange Peel and maybe some smaller designs above and below. What do you think? Would like to try quilting a houndstooth pattern maybe, as the backing has giraffes with houndstooth and sort of an orange peel petal shape on them. Also the marking tip with a Herra marker is super helpful. Love the split view and new lighting.

What is your tip for not getting slanted as you approach the point of the chevron? I think that would be a problem for me. Love the lighting -- so helpful to watch you quilt!
@StitchedBySusan
@StitchedBySusan Жыл бұрын
For me, it's practice, and peripheral vision - literally keeping half an eye on the "big picture" helps me shaping and fitting things. You might try marking in some simple up and down strokes as a visual guide. This skill of SEEING and filling a space is a huge part of freehand quilting, and it really comes with practice.

I’m a new quilter. This is my 1st year making quilts consistently. My desire is learning how to quilt my own projects . Would you recommend me waiting to learn how to quilt first before jumping into quilting? Or can you learn how to quilt on a longarm at any stage of quilting process?….. Want you professional opinion please.
@StitchedBySusan
@StitchedBySusan Жыл бұрын
You can learn on a longarm at any time! It is quite a bit easier to move the machine over the quilt (longarm), rather than the quilt under the needle (sit-down machine). However, other factors like space and price often come into play, and many folks quilt beautifully on domestic or sit-down machines.
