It almost seems like you raided the studio and removed these treasures. Are you a session musician ? An unknown member of the Wrecking Crew ? Were you a custodian who cleaned the studio and cleaned out the vault ? You come up with unique stuff. That's all that matters. Thanks for sharing. Your good taste in music can not be disputed

@@AnthonyReichardt Sorry Anthony, I was an extremely busy background singer in the 60s through the 90s and performed with Clydie King and Venetta Fields for hundreds of major and upcoming artists. Too many to remember details, even the standouts like, Steely Dan, Diana Ross, Bill Cosby, etc. Charlotte and I were friends before she began recording.

"Voice out too far"? Did whoever wrote that actually listen to the record? Wonderful find...RIP Charlotte and thank you Jana for finding and sharing these acetates

Bonnie & The Treasures - MY CHICO (Chico's not the kind of boy we want in the crowd, girl.) I just couldn't care less about your old crowd. (He doesn't fit in, girl.) I know my Chico needs me and I'm so proud. (Forget about him, girl.) Who are you to put yourself above him. I know he's different but maybe that's why I love him. Hey, you've been so much trouble. Get out of our way. (But we're your friends, girl.) As long as my Chico needs me, I'm here to stay. (You'll get hurt in the end, girl.) A love that's good as this just can't be wrong. I just don't really care if we belong. I love my Chico, and I know that he loves me. I love my Chico, why won't you just let us be. No matter what you say about him, I just can't live without him. Oh, why should you care what I do. (Chico's not the kind of boy for you.) Who are you to put yourself above him. I know he's different but maybe that's why I love him. I love my Chico, and I know that he loves me. I love my Chico, why won't you just let us be. I love my Chico, he's all that really matters to me. I love my Chico, why won't you just let us be. I love my Chico, why won't you just let us be.

@@AnthonyReichardt Thank you so much, Anthony! The lyrics are really cool. The music, along with the words, deserved much to have made this song what certainly should have been a big hit. Again, greatly appreciate your time in sharing this with all of us!

Hi Anthony. I had a question about this production on the Bonnie & the Treasures fan page on FaceBook: the question related to the handwritten note on the label "voice out too far". As the balance seems fine, if a little too far back in the mix, so I was wondering if there was a little bit of enhancing the vocals for the purpose of this post, or is it raw and directly off the disc with no enhancement ? Thank you for your dedication to finding Gold Star Studio rarities. Special thanks to Jana for providing the material.
@AnthonyReichardt4 жыл бұрын
What you hear is a direct lift from the acetate without any sound editing. It's a mystery as to who wrote that comment on the label.
