Are the first few rows supposed to flare out? I re-did first few rows. Had a little issue w/keeping my rows consistent (I'm a tight crocheter) & keeping crown stitches to 60, but this is the nicest, most professional, best fitting hat I ever made. I'm going to make more for the holidays.

Yes, the beginning will flare out a bit, but once you stop adding in stitches for the following rows, it should curve down into a hat shape. so glad this worked for you!

Question do you metion a gauge for this I've done up to popcorn row but mine looks smaller, I'm using KnitCrate yarn like yours and recommend hooks???

This is so gorgeous!!! How would you make this for a larger head?? I would love to make this in the Eagles colors for a fan. He is a larger man. Normal hat size is 7 3/4. Help me if you can. 😊 thank you

I think if you use wool, you will get plenty of ease. You can also use a larger crochet hook, but depending on your gauge, that may make it too big. I have a larger head size, and this fit me very well. Hope this is helpful Diane!
