Jim Steinman wrote it, along with "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". Air Supply's recording is the version that was a big hit in the fall of 1983, but Bonnie got "Eclipse", and that was massive.

@@hollyh314 we do, you just need to look. usually deep stuff is not going to get on pop radio, which is a glorified commercial filler. look on youtube and let the algorithm help you, and youc an find great stuff. i find in metal there are some female vocalists like noora louhimo, fabienne emi, floor jensen, sharon van edel, and lizzy hale are very strong vocalists if you like things a bit metal. I'd add melissa bonny though she can sometimes go for growl vocals that can be weird for people.

One thing that Steinman does is change his lyrics (the 3rd verse is different from Air Supply's version) and it works - think he's always about improvements. Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through comes to mind - he created another verse in Meatloaf's version then when he wrote it in 1981 for himself.

This is probably my favorite Jim Steinman/Bonnie Tyler collaboration. The production was criticised back in the 90's, but I think reviewers never really understood Jim Steinman. I love the grandness, the epic proportions, the uniqueness, especially since the lyrics are so relatable and intimate even. 'The beating of my heart is a drum, and it's lost and it's looking for a rhythm like you'. Special mention to the wonderful operatic vocal additions by Tyler's mother, if I'm not mistaken.

I know just how to whisper And I know just how to cry I know just where to find the answers And I know just how to lie I know just how to fake it And I know just how to scheme I know just when to face the truth And then I know just when to dream And I know just where to touch you And I know just what to prove I know when to pull you closer And I know when to let you loose And I know the night is fading And I know the time's gonna fly And I'm never gonna tell you everything I gotta tell you But I know I gotta give it a try And I know the roads to riches And I know the ways to fame I know the rules and then I know how to break them And I always know the name of the game But I don't know how to leave you And I'll never let you fall And I don't know how you do it Making love out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all Every time I see you all the rays of the Sun Are streaming through the waves in your hair And every star in the sky Is taking aim at your eyes like a spotlight The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost And it's looking for a rhythm like you You can take the darkness from the pit of the night And turn it into a beacon burning endlessly bright I gotta follow it Cause everything I own now It's nothing till I give it to you I can make you find your power I can make you lose your fear I can make your body do some very magical things I'll make your inhibitions all disappear I can make tonight forever Or I can make it disappear by the dawn And I can make you every promise that has ever been made And I can make all your demons be gone But I'm never gonna make it without you Do you really wanna see me crawl? And I'm never gonna make it like you do Making love out of nothing at all (Making love) Out of nothing at all (Making love) Out of nothing at all (Making love) Yeah Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Out of nothing at all (making love) Making love out of nothing at all (Making love) Out of nothing at all (Making love) Out of nothing at all (Making love) Out of nothing at all
