I happened to have a Reverse Osmosis system for domestic use and I decided to use this water for the trees too. It looks to be working fine so far. (tap water had 160 ppm and ph 7 ,RO water 4 ppm and ph 6)

I've learned from bonsai-growers that alkaline water is the #1 reason for slow growth and/or crappy health. And, unfortunately, SoCal has very alkaline water. I use fertilizers with sulfer/acidifiers to help combat it :) But, best solution is to directly acidify the water with various methods (cheaper bucket & siphon systems, expensive in-line injector systems, etc., etc.)

For those of us on a well, prior to the ph test, let you test water air out in a container twenty four hours before testing to get accurate number......no air and will test lower than what it is......if you adjust without aging you get wrong results FYI carefull......now you know.........stay well

What should the ppm level be when adding nutrients?

I usually do a foliar feeding because my tap water is very hardy 743 ppm so i do not want to add more salt to soil and when i do a foliar feeding the tds is about 500 ppm i follow the fertilizer instructions the one i use need 1 cap bottle of liquid fertilizer per 4 litter of water and the water i used for foiler feeding is very important it should be less then 50 ppm and my plants doing well

i water all my plants with hard well water and never had an issue.. don't think too hard about what water you use. use what is available.

This belongs to a modern apocalyptic approach to horticulture applied to bonsai.This is how fears are fed among newly-born fans and so we have this new generation of bonsai addicts to painkillers who suffer bonsai when they should be enjoying it.
