Hellooo it's the pinned comment! This is our first of many (im sure) Berserk videos from us. I'm caught up on the manga and more invested than ever, it's genius. We actually managed to get this video done from scratch in two days, script to finished product, it's quite an achievement on our end lol, we are at a wedding rn and had to leave for it on thursday. Because this is our first Berserk video we wanted to make it like an introduction to our future videos. There are people who would rather learn about things this way, so next time we'll make sure to full dive spoilers and all. Let us know what you'd like us to cover below, id love to talk about schierke personally. Dont forget to subscribe and check out our patreon! Thanks for watching. -Mike

Calling Berserk a masterpiece is an understatement. Because it gets what game of thrones doesn’t. That even when everything is terrible and the world is falling apart, humanity is still worth saving. Because there are people out there holding onto each other and fighting for what is right for all. And I think that’s beautiful.

In the time period it takes place in, that doesn't matter. By current law thats true, but we need to remember murder is not philosophy its law. Honestly, this has to be one of the best analyses on Beserk I’ve watched. When I first experienced Beserk, I immediately connected with Guts. I connected with how he went through his life with a figurative middle finger in the air, and how his anger fueled him through his pain and loneliness. He has a tough exterior that protects insides that are raw to the touch, something that I sometimes have in my life. Guts has to be my personal favorite character ever created.

I discover Berserk a year ago during a very depressing time in my life. I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years, I switch job positions because I could no longer handle the stress and felt confused about my future. I had no motivation and struggle to find a reason to want to live. Than co-worker who likes Manga mention Berserk. I went on Netflix and started watching the Berserk movie trilogy, not to my knowledge at that time, completely out of order. So the first movie I watched from the trilogy was the last. When Griffith lost everything, Casca was losing her mind, the Hawks morality was low and Guts was trying to find his place in the world. I just love that movie and watch the rest, in order, so I could understand the main theme and plot. I went online and found the entire Manga translated and within two days read it'sentirety (at the time). Since I started reading Berserk, I am back in school finishing my last semester, I lost 50lbs and still losing weight. My work life is stable, not ideal but I can focus on my future. I felt this deep connection to Guts character, being a struggle and dealing with being human. Guts wasn't looking for glory, for wealth, he just wanted to be understood, respected and loved. Even to have such basic desires, it's a fucking fight to acheive and keep. Guts in the Berserk story represents will power, limitations of humanity and the mind. Yet he goes beyond his limitation every time he fights a demon. Guts is always so close to death yet it doesn't stop him from doing what he feels is right. Guts isn't fearless, he isn't entirely selfish he just accepts the reality that surrounds him and keeps moving forward. I've delta with depression and thoughts of suicide all my life. After a while you get used to knowing your own low points, it's how you over come those low points what makes you stronger.

Funny how all of us strugglers find Berserk in the worst times of our lives... It's cool that you're doing so much better after dealing with so much. 2002 Is when I first started watching Berserk during the worst part of my life. Bad news? @@NaglfarCommando that is so true. Though I am young and only 14 years old, 2020 had to have been the worst year in my entire short life so far. The quarantine education system shoved so much fucking homework down the throats of the students of our school, the online conference schedules were shitty, the teachers were all old lazy delusional morons with no common sense that think giving a lot of homework makes students smarter. I was at my lowest during those times, and I'm still recovering from that year. My acne first appeared in that year, but it wasn't extremely severe acne before the quarantine started. Because of the hellish workload of assignments given by our "teachers" and the extremely short deadlines to hand those assignments in, I constantly found myself pulling all-nighters. Finishing my homework by 6 AM or sometimes even 7 AM, whereas online classes started at 8 AM or sometimes 9 AM. Because of this unnatural and unhealthy nocturnal lifestyle, and also the constant stress from school, bad hygiene because of the lack of personal time, and poor diet - my acne was so bad I was legitimately afraid of looking at myself on the mirror. I also often found myself unintentionally losing and gaining weight back and forth, which also lowered my morality. And also I had just gotten into volleyball that year which ended up being my full time hobby at the time, and I found myself becoming more happy and more confident in myself ever since I had started taking volleyball classes. It was, you could say - my passion. As the school year was about to end, I still had so many overdue homework assignments that I needed to hand in, and the school called my parents saying that I might stay in 8th grade a second time. My parents were incredibly pessimistic and doubtful of me at that time and I thought that was a shitty thing to do for parents. They were very very disappointed in me (I'm asian). In the end, I barely managed to pass 8th grade and I even managed to start going to volleyball classes again and living a fairly healthy lifestyle. But I wasn't even close to fully recovering from those times I can basically call a trauma (I get very anxious and uncomfortable just thinking about those times, I do so even now). That's when I got into Berserk. Berserk deeply touched me, unlike any story I've read/watched before. It was truly something unique. So I guess I also found Berserk during the worst times of my life. Now that school's back again, it's still shitty but I'm doing way better than I was in 8th grade.

The true tragedy is Guts left not just to find himself. He left to find himself so he could return as the kind of person Griffith could call a friend. It was love of his friend that made him break free and desire to be more than a servant. Something he hadn't even realized he had become till he heard Griffith say he hated people who merely followed him without their own dreams or ambitions. Griffith merely interpreted it as Guts abandoning him, and I don't think Griffith himself understood Guts had resigned himself to merely following before then. From there.. well.. Gilgamesh took Enkidu's death just about as well. Every tragedy needs a comedy. The comedy here is Guts needed to grow merely to understand he had already achieved his dream all along. He had found friends and family. The comedy is he never had to leave in the first place. Merely realize what he already had. Not seeing it soon enough cost everything.

Berserk is a textbook study in archetypal storytelling. In the Black Swordsman arc, he is traveling alone, motivated by selfish revenge. In the Millennium Empire arc, he is traveling with a small band of children and his lover, motivated by selfless responsibility and paternal duty. He transitions from a Nietzschean hero to a Jungian one throughout the Conviction arc. It is the act of a teenager growing into adulthood.

Loved this video. I think a kind of interesting take is how Guts is kind of an absurdist hero. The universe he fights against is utterly vast and he is but a tiny speck in it, a sacrifice for something greater and unknowable. Everyday he’s had to fight against the meaningless brutality of the world that provides him no solace. BUT he carries on. He finds meaning. It may not be his intention in the beginning, but that stubborn rebellion to live despite death being at every corner leads to an eventual purpose. I can’t help but imagine Guts, in a way, is happy. Keep in mind this is a very loose interpretation, I’ve read the latest chapters and understand that his revenge may not be what we characterize as happy, but I think the idea of absurdism adds a little more flavor to it (not that it needs it honestly).

It's easy to do it now and it stops you from hurting but if you don't accept life as it is (as it actually is not as u imagine it to be) you won't grow as a person. For example what I thought Griffith wanted to say in the lake before the eclipse was: "If you touch me, I wi ll never forgive you." He never ever questioned himself, he never was rejected, everything he wanted in life until this point aligned just how he imagined it. He never learned to cope with loss, or to cope with situations not going your way. The self sabotage he fell in after Guts left the Hawks was aimed to kill himself because he might have realized that he is not really chosen by fate or by god. He lost his belief in everything that made him going and then Guts came to rescue him... Something he doesn't want. The Rivalry, the ownership of Guts he fought for and lost again. Seeing Guts and Casca, the hawks. Making him realize what he did. How can he be saved by those people taking pity on him, and also only wanting to free him because they still believe what Griffith used to believe and imprinted on them. An Illusion they were not able to le go. I love Berserk it sparks the mind ^^

Just gotta throw out there, the musical selection for segments are the tops. Seems very intentional and is both relevant and effective. 👏

You asked what keeps us fighting the demons. It is love for me, despite the cliche. Helped me ward off a perpetual desire for death coupled with not having the strength to follow through. Truly, suicidal thoughts and apathy are an agonizing combination. I hope nobody else feels it to the degree I did or worse.

I actually think griffith was saying "if you touch me, I won't be able to realize my dream" or something along those lines. The despair of guts actually touching him is what activated the crimson behelit and began the eclipse.

i swear on me jakobs, pls dont watch the 16/17 3D Anime. It's shite. Watch the 97 or if you really need a quick breakdown the 3 movies. but DONT YOU EVER THINK ABOUT THE DISSAPOINTMENT THAT IS THIS 3D ANIME.

Wtf it illegal to watch berserk. I'm calling the FBI unless you read it.
@pwnyboy97145 жыл бұрын
Lots of passion here. Just a quick heads up, probably watching the 97. Heard 3d was bad but imo, the 3d just doesnt feel like the artstyle translates. Probably wont read the manga as I prefer to have manga in physical form and thats just not economical for me right now.

Berserk is absolutely Berserk. I mean some mangas captivate you but Berserk defines you in what questions in morality, willpower, and what drives someone to be who they are. It questions everything

Excellent video. I really appreciate your writing style, it makes the narrative really enjoyable. I think you really nail the core concepts of the story and there's still so much more to talk about. This really hyped me up to get caught up with the manga again.

do you write your own dialog?? your narrative is amazing in not only painting a clear picture of the trials these characters go through but also re hyping a series that I haven't visited in years. Seriously, the narrative in these videos is an artform itself. keep up the great work!

i've always had and affinity for the character not because i think im a 6ft sword wielding badass but because i see a lot of him in me. he was born from a corpse, i was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and was born dead, had to be resuscitated and stayed in the ICU for a month before my mother could see me. he's lived a life with an abusive father figure, i grew up with an abusive father, he's lived his life as a loner valuing his freedom before friendship, i purposely stayed alone because i find it difficult to be friends with people valuing my own freedom to live as i see fit (as well as some mental health shit, it's just easier being alone, it's nothing all that special or depressing i just prefer it), he had one friend whom he'd have considered a brother at one point who would then betray him... i had a friend i called brother, our blood runs through each others veins (did a blood pact at 12 years old yeah yeah i know uber cringe haha) who would then betray me because cocaine and money was more important.. he had one love whom he will probably never be with.. i have only ever dated on person because again i prefer being alone but no matter how hard we tried it just wouldn't work, i was an ex gang member (i made mistakes in between my stints in solitude) and she would go one to become a cop...thin blue line between us now. in the end the similarities are obviously not quite the same and i would never compare myself to him as an equal, im strong but good god that guys insane, but emotional toughness??? that i get.. in the end i failed in leading a normal life and i don't think i'll EVER have a normal life.. the thing that keeps me going is pure stubbornness... one of my favorite lines from the anime was this line "this is war, no different to any other war, nothings changed, nothing i can't handle. nothing" in the end i have felt like my entire lifes been one painful trauma to the next but instead of allowing them to be things to made me depressed or sad or cynical.. i wore them like badges of honor, shit ive gone through that wasn't strong enough to kill me or make me self terminate. and a lot like guts im slowly learning how to have companionship and love with others even when solitude feels like the best option, the one that allows me to make my own path and if there isn't one i'll make one. i've always had this feeling like i was gonna make it to the bitter end just to spite everyone who said otherwise. i keep going because i truly feel that there will come a day that just like guts... i'll be able to swing my sword against lifes.. and just like griffiths..i hope it shatters in pieces leaving me to walk free from the pain of past bullshit with a sense of pride in my own dreams and foot steps knowing that the ones i make in the snow.. will never be followed, so that i can continue like the wars before.. to swing my dragon slayer against the demons of my past and keep fighting till that next sunrise so i can finally take some well needed rest.

Dude man. I LOVE the videos you all make. Please keep it up, and honestly, I am interested in you making a video on your own story and relating it to different anime throughout (this is of course if your comfortable with going into detail with your story). If not, I TOTALLY understand. You're an inspiration, brotha. Peace and be safe.

I didn't watch this when it came out. I couldn't bring myself to. But when I finally did, I feel like it's message resonated with the thoughts I've been having lately about my life. I've yet to truly find out what I'm supposed to do here, and it seems that everything I try to do ends up falling short. But I don't want to give up yet. I want to keep living so I can give the people who want me dead a huge middle finger.

A bond is a connection with two friends but it's much deeper than that . A bond is a dream to challenge each other to see who's better but it comes with pain and suffering . Pain is what strengthens that bond being able to push each other to the limit . Suffering is what you have in common to each other . The hurt you have felt connects you two and builds a bond greater than love it's self . It's a way to view each other in order to become closer then friends . That is a bond .

i had goosebump in the end.....what keeps me on this earth is maybe accomplishing true freedom with a tinyhouse on wheels driving eternally through this world and expiriencing the beauty we have forgot that exists "Nature".

That ending kinda fought against me, like you were saying life isn't much, without a reason to keep you going. But I get it, one of my reasons for being me is because I live in opposition of hatred, sadness, and restriction. Doing what I'm passionate about, and loving and caring for people and the world, and being me is what I do. I also do it for others, but it's what I do, and I make sure nobody's negativity can change it.
